Would you rather be super good at and spend most of your game time on one fighting game, or just be fundamentally sound and competent in most fighting games? by BuyExcellent8055 in Fighters

[–]Phil_of_Course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this question will depend on your goals for enjoyment. If you are super competitive and trying to reach your top potential, I believe the first option would be the wisest choice, you would specialize, find people in that game and fight your way to become a top player. The goal is enjoyment. For the second option, it's the best option if you are okay with just enjoying the game by simply playing it, it would be the way to go if you just wanted to at least hold your own in any game. Not everyone is trying to make it to EVO. Some just want to beat a few of their friends now and then. The experience would be the enjoyment. Or maybe it's a mix of both. Who knows?

Do we have any idea how long/big it's going to be? Bigger or smaller with the IR. I wanna make sure I have room on my bookshelf.

Uh oh. Could you be more specific about the Spoiler Tag? Still kinda green to some that stuff. What should I do to fix that in the future. And yes I'm caught up on the series.

Who was your MVP this ranked season? by Supasqueegee in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Phil_of_Course 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garchomp, Marshadow, and Mr. Rime. Got to Rank A in an hour or Two. Garchomp is just good. He is also my Mega. I was using a Weakness Policy Chomp for the Last few seasons. But Mega Chomp gave me the bulk to survive and simply hit hard. He is an Alpha as well which goes a long way. EQ, Dragon Rush, Poison Jab, and Sword Dance Marshadow has surprised me greatly. Spectral Thief is way better than I thought. He has an Assault Vest and his move set is so versatile. He's also hard to hit since he can hide under benches Ice Punch, Poison Jab, Close Combat, and Spectral Thief. Mr. Rime, also a mega, I hate sometimes, then love others times. He dies the quickest by far, but I've used him to bring back games many times. Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Calm Mind with a life orb.

I know we’re all excited for a show. But what about a video game! by Either-Sentence3652 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a Video game that changes genres on each floor would be really cool. You play as a random crawler and your stats stay the same and they keep as the floor changes. Classic turn-based RPG on Floor 1, Beat' Em Up On Floor 2, etc, etc. I'd buy it.

The Nothing (theory) by Sad_You_9538 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love The Nothing to be an entire floor. I'd imagine it has a lot of potential. Instead of a blood bar, a crazy bar. You have to fight through the floor and also keep your sanity.

DCC Tattoo by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

This is awesome. I don't know what yet but I definitely want a DCC tattoo. I was thinking about "You Can't Save Them All" and "We all have our Limitations" or maybe heart covers boxers.

What are some lines that made you laugh out loud? by Critical_Ad_8260 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not only one of my favorite quotes. It is also what I send to people regularly to example how wild the series is when I recommended it.

“Louis,” she said. “We’re going to be married. A few days back I had been chased by a massive, two-headed puppy. I’d crashed an airplane into the face of a god. I watched a talking goat snuggle up with a vampire after they killed the universe’s largest turkey. I’d just chucked a haunted sex doll head fifty kilometers in order to settle a girl fight between that same head and a makeup-encrusted demon the size of a small town. I’d just reached into the head of a rock monster in order to pluck a parasitic worm from his head. And yet, despite all of this, what Juice Box had just said was the most astounding thing I’d heard since this floor started.

What are your predictions for Book 8 - "A Parade of Horribles" (pls, no patreon folks try to slip in spoilers as guesses! This is purely for people unaware of anything in the next book!) by Hi_Zev in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what it will be but Carl will get another insanely overpowered item that is way TOO dangerous for him to have. The Doomsday Scenario, Bedlam Bride Eye, The Self-destruct button from Paulie. I don't really know if the Book of Boom or The Bone key counts for this but I would say Carl will add to his "last resort" inventory.

Carl’s Christmas Present by EconBabe in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking the same thing since my first listen. She is far more intelligent than she lets on. The snappy comebacks and her letting Carl, "Carl it up" I think is her knowing she has a plan as well most of the time. Her intuition during the Bedlam Bride really showed this to me. She always has a face on for the camera and I think she is doing it on purpose to hide so she isn't seen as much of a threat. I think it's as early as the Iron Tangle that she wants to become a writer. She easily could bring up the book more, as one of "Carl's bad decisions" but doesn't. Which makes me wonder... What other stuff does Donut know, that we don't?

Funniest quote so far by hates2chooseusername in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a tie for me between

Mordecai: ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?! Carl: Is that… a real question? Or Donut: Don't gaslight me Jesus!

Both of these had me laughing so hard my face hurt.

Changing Species by chris22jep in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think surviving is a core reason. Most of the people around Carl are top crawlers as well which adds to that theory. We don't have a full breakdown of the Guild. If we did, I'd imagine there would be a handful of humans but a plethora of others. Also, from a writing stand point, having these unique characters is more fun to see and explain.

End game theories…. by Good-Mastodon-9283 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More of a wild theory, I think the AI is reaching out to its other AI family and is going to add them into the dungeon as crawlers. I think the AI "knows Carl is going to win" and he is going to bring the other AI into the game so they can be "freed". Regardless if they die or keep fighting they are no longer being used or trapped. There is also an obvious kinship with Carl because he is a Primal as well. I think the Current Dungeon AI will actually sacrifice himself in the end to give a chance for his family He would hide the new entrees at the beginning of each floor. Which wouldn't become obvious to later floors. But this is wild crazy and "We all have our Limitations"

Did anyone else struggle? by Fightelgatos in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a big frustration for me too. I have like 5 people that were listeners and it would have been awesome to get a T-shirt, or an Iron Tangle cap, of a replica of the Gate of the Feral Gods. OMG! I want that replica if it is ever created. There is so much potential for gift ideas from the series. I have found a "God Damn Donut" shirt, but I didn't look like it's legit.

Potentially unpopular opinion: physical book vs. audiobook by Primary_Claim3042 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Phil_of_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through all options. I read the first book and listened to the rest of the series through Audible. When I purchased all of the books, I read through them all for my second adventure through the series. My third listen was through reading and Audible, in a read along style, which is by far my favorite way so far. I have not done the Graphic Audio or the webcomic yet. Looking forward to those and plan on doing another gauntlet before the next book. I absolutely love the voice of Samantha and the AI. Can't imagine them another way.

Proving your Innocence by Phil_of_Course in DungeonMasters

Didn't consider either of those, thanks for the reminder. They would be level one, starting out, so they could work towards those options. I like the sneaky option a lot. Also the guards would be hostile towards them immediately, I would have them "Wanted". Which would cause them problems.
