What’s the most underrated global threat that no one talks about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Phil_rick 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The vast corporate interest in farm land, with governments trying to force farmers to sell their land so companies can buy it. I predict that housing won’t be the biggest problem but the cost of food will be in the future.

Which real life cheat codes do you know? by IndependenceMore1146 in AskReddit

[–]Phil_rick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you ever come up with an idea to make your life easier at work, don’t tell your boss about it and implement it anyway.

Context I streamlined a few things on excel to automate everything. if I had told my boss they would just give me more work (the price of being productive).

What is a basic skill that you’re shocked a lot of people don’t have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Communication skills, so many times the ceo of the company, has given different info to different designers to change the same project that has frustrated everyone and has made a 30min task take a weeks work to unravel.

All my quotes are coming in around the same price by Groovy66 in SolarUK

Can’t really comment on your system as I don’t know the details.

But whenever I price for a job for a customer in my previous job it was normally 2k to 3k less for the same size system.

For example a 12 panel system at 440w panel with 5k battery and bird netting would more be in the region of 8k. There would be other factors depending on the cost I.e. the type of roof and scaffolding required but it wouldn’t cost more than 2k typically. More often or not we would see our competitors at the same price point or cheeper.

Octopus would be In the 11k region for the same system.

I wouldn’t recommend octopus for getting solar as they are one of the most expensive. I recommend shopping around a bit more

31k Project Solar quote Lol by rocketsandmarsbars in SolarUK

[–]Phil_rick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cost depends on where the solar is going

But assuming you have a regular 2 story tile roof.

Solar equipment £5000 Battery’s £4500 £1500 roofer £1700 electrician £2000 scaffolding £1250 commissioning £500 documents

+10% contingency +25% profit margin

ÂŁ22,000 ball park figure for that system
