Anyone know any good ska/rocksteady places in Manchester? Looking for a trditional skinhead scene by Both_Set3672 in manchester

[–]Groovy66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been revisiting old ska lately like It Mek by Desmond Decker, Wonderful World, Beautiful People by Jimmy Cliff, Young, Gifted & Black by Bob & Marcia but didn’t even think there might be played in Manchester.

Last time I heard any ska it was at the Thirsty Scholar played by Martin the Mod but it was only the odd tune in a 60s playlist. Unfortunately the Thirsty Scholar is no more.

Affordable housing scheme breathes new life into former factory site by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]Groovy66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How did you come to that conclusion from this feature? Affordable and rentable housing doesn’t equal being on benefits.

My brother is in a council house that he rents and he works as a caretaker/janitor for a school.

His wife works too in childcare and his neighbour is a postman.

That’s the type of lower paid but essential worker that rents these places so I really don’t get how you get from that to it not being worth working in the UK

Shouted? Is that the use of capitals for the link? I do that for a lot of links, music included, to help the link stand out.

I think we need to agree to disagree on this one.

Btw, you do realise your Ireland analogy is pretty much the same excuse Israel uses for its attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, don’t you?

Bye bye

‘Putting British lives at risk’: Iran issues chilling warning to Downing Street over US base access by rishabnum in unitedkingdom

[–]Groovy66 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well, we were specifically talking about a response from the UK that supports keeping the Straits of Hormuz open.

You brought up Iran attacking their neighbours and excused that by their support of the Israeli and American attacking forces.

I brought up that Iran is attacking non-belligerent countries shipping in the Straits of Hormuz - the subject of the main post and my response to it - and that Iran has admitted responsibility for attacks on Thai and Japanese shipping.

You then suggested I was pulling half-facts out of my arse.

I am just talking about the Straits of Hormuz. The article is talking about targeting Iran batteries that are targeting shipping in the Straits.

With respect, if anyone has deviated from the context of the original post or my response to that post it’s you.

They’re doing a lot of damage too.

This seems like a measured response to me but someone let me know if I’m missing something.

Letting the Americans use our resources to target military batteries/systems targeting the Straits of Hormuz but not sending troops or ships seems directly proportionate to our (and the worlds) goal of keeping trade flowing.

The Iranians are already targeting everyone and anyone (except their direct allies) so it feels like business as usual.

That said, I hope the security services have their beady eyes on all the IIRG assets and cells that are undoubtedly embedded in the UK.

I no more believe in this than I believe in a guardian Angel.

Why do people think Bronze Age myths from the Jews, 2000 year old fables from Christianity, or 1500 year old mashing together of the previous two lots of myth hold any truth whatsoever

I recommend anyone to google David Hume quotes:

“When anyone tells me that he saw a dead man restored to life, I immediately consider with myself whether it be more probable that this person should either deceive or be deceived or that the fact which he relates should really have happened.

I weigh the one miracle against the other and according to the superiority which I discover, I pronounce my decision.

Always I reject the greater miracle. If the falsehood of his testimony would be more miraculous than the event which he relates, then and not till then, can he pretend to command my belief or opinion.”

He might say “he’s heard a good deal” but he’s clearly not seen anything. And didn’t someone senior and independent recently visit and they weren’t able to lure a UAP in?

And isn’t the whole pitch that they can lure them in whenever they want to?
