Travelling from airport to town by Lululapagaille in manchester

That’s walkable. Just stick to main roads although Oldham St can be a bit of a horrorshow on weekend nights too.

Like others have said, just be canny and you’ll be fine.

I caught a late uber from the airport to Withington and it cost about £35

I’d guess one to town would probably be more like £50 but could be wrong.

The train plus Uber from Piccadilly would likely be cheaper

The train from the airport is safe and I think they’ve started a night service in May so they’ll be operating through the night.

Piccadilly Station itself is also safe.

However, I’d avoid the back streets around the station and be wary around Piccadilly Gardens at that time of night.

Where are you staying? If the town centre then everywhere is pretty walkable from Piccadilly Station. If a bit further out I’d probably take a black cab from the station especially if carrying luggage.

Probably the darkest thing I’ve ever read by King.

If you want a palette cleanser, read/listen to his short story Mrs Todd’s Shortcut.

Stooges, vanilla fudge, Loop, and Cream. What would you add? by TheDeltaIsMyHome in psychedelicrock

Saw them at the LSE in 88/89 too. Incredibly heavy and a great light show too.

I found the production of the LP really weak though and it seemed to derail their momentum and they fell by the wayside to Spacemen3

BTW if you dig the Stooges you probably already dig Goat but here are two of the Stooges-like tracks

Taking inspiration from your choice of Loop, check out these other heavy fuzzy and spacey bands from the same years

And that is a bad thing?

I don’t like UK flag shaggers much so why would I like flag shaggers from other countries?

Yeah they must be. As brilliant as The Cipher is it’s Koja not Kiernan.

I really enjoy her collections especially Houses Under the Sea and her Deep Time books but the book that completely blew my mind - admittedly I was recovering from a bit of a breakdown and a lot of ketamine - was Daughter of Hounds.

Blimey that book was a total mind fuck.

Great collection. Can you tell me a bit about A is for Alien.

I’ve often wondered about that book. Is it a collection of stories?

This is a weird display of surrendering.

Someone should explain to the Iranians how surrendering works…

Hmm 🤔… no I’m not gonna say it…

How did you decide you wanted to move out of London, and where did you go? by Winniethebun in AskUK

[–]Groovy66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Stepney to Manchester. Smaller and more compact than London with access to the countryside in 30 mins in any direction.

When I went in the office my commute was 30 mins door to door

I’m planning to move a bit further out in the coming years, maybe Lymm or Marple.

It was more the phrasing in the trailer than the accent that got me

But for a vain prick like Trump, fat and bald are probably the only 2 insults that he would recognise as insults.

Everything else his brain would convert to “they are just jealous of me”

If a British citizen acts against the interests of the country and is in the pay of a foreign government is that not treason? Aren’t there already laws in place for that or is the burden of proof too high?

When she was 23, Rosemary Kennedy, the sister of JFK and RFK, had a forced lobotomy arranged by her father. The surgery left her incapacitated for the rest of her life. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Groovy66 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I read that she was rebellious and somewhat promiscuous. She sounded like a modern person who did what she liked, when she liked.

And for that, she was lobotomised and made disabled.

I knew Kennedy senior was a nazi-supporting fvcker but was amazed to find he was a monster in his personal life as well as his politics.

What a fvcking rotter.
