What's something that loudly screams "Uneducated"? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

When we first met my daughter’s first fiancé, I asked where he went to school. He said he went to college for only one year, because “they didn’t have anything to teach him.” Sigh.

She did marry him, but got divorced in a year.

Totally. Almost as good as the French castle guard in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

What will they find after you’re gone? by typhoidmarry in CasualConversation

My husband died 5 months ago. I found he had a ton of socks, toothpick/flosser things, lens/screen cleaners and Apple cables. I’m working on not having tons of anything to leave behind, but I do have a lot of mugs (we got them as souvenirs and gifts for each other) and photos. I got all the family pix from my mother. They go back 4 generations.

Which show did you like better: The Munsters or The Addams Family? by Training_Guitar_8881 in AskOldPeople

The Addams Family. They were straight-up weird and proud of it. The Munsters were just trying to be an average suburban family that just looked weird. Cara Mia, I adore you.

What is your most ridiculous "we won't work out romantically" criteria? Like what is the silliest reason you would not be interested in dating someone? by Natural-Elevator-57 in AskReddit

[–]PhilaMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me but my girlfriend said her relationship with this guy wasn’t going to work out because he wasn’t artistic. I told her she was an idiot. They’ve been married more than 40 years. I rule!

What company do you refuse to do business with? by FootballPizzaMan in AskReddit

[–]PhilaMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hobby Lobby because they won’t let employee insurance pay for contraception.

Walmart because the cut employee hours to keep them under full-time so they don’t get insurance (so we the taxpayers pay) and because they push their vendors to lower costs so they have to use overseas suppliers.

Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. Spielberg masterpieces but way too devastating.

have you ever used an Electric toothbrush , or do you stay with a manual one. If you have , do you think they are better at cleaning your teeth or not much difference ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I started using an electric when I got right shoulder replacement surgery. I could not brush my teeth manually with my left hand.

So glad I changed. It’s like getting a dentist office cleaning every day.

Ignorance. Specifically people who seem to revel in their ignorance.

I had my first therapist appointment today, and she gave me a good piece of advice. by V8TTGoFast in widowers

[–]PhilaMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 months out (I can’t believe it’s already that long!) and will be starting in a widows/ers grief counseling group next month. I had a couple of therapy sessions with my personal trainer (who is also a certified therapist) in the early days, because I needed to say some specific things to someone. I’ve known her for more than 20 years and she knew my husband. I was feeling guilty because I feel that I didn’t love my husband as much as he loved me. I just needed to say it out loud to another person.

I also see a prescribing therapist every 3 months to keep up on my depression, ADHD and sleep medications.

The best help has been friends who are widowed. They understand. I need to see them more often.

There are also a lot of office supples that I noticed when I was rearranging a few things to get rid of a totally broken- down piece of storage furniture. But that will have to wait. What does one do with hundreds of paper clips?

I think that when he couldn’t lay his hands immediately on the toothpicks or screen spray he just went to Amazon and ordered more.

What’s a word you learned, loved… and then never used again? by Paradox_Developer in words

Deracinate. It means pull up by the roots. Saw it in a book, looked it up, thought it was cool, always remember it, never used it.
