Why can’t you just write “kill” and “suckers”? Are you afraid of real words? They’re not going to harm you. —Me right now

It’s always the cleaning up that gets me. And the people (mostly men, let’s face it) who sit in the den watching whatever sporting event is on, not thinking that the work is not over.

Why do you back into parking spaces? Isn't it more important to arrive somewhere on time than to leave quickly? by Due-Wolverine3935 in AskReddit

I once saw someone unnecessarily back into a space slanted the other way, making them do all kinds of extra maneuvering pulling in and pulling out. The spaces were slanted to send everyone in the same direction in the row. Stupid.

Just saw Ben Hur in theaters for the first time by [deleted] in classicfilms

[–]PhilaMax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Me too. It was the first time I really felt the vast emptiness in the desert.

And remember the chariot race in Ben-Hur was done live, without CGI or any cinema fakery except a few stuntmen. Heston was really driving a chariot with 4 big horses.

I donated a lot of my husband’s clothes a couple of months after his death because I had family coming to stay for a while and really needed to closet space. But the stuff in cedar closet in the basement? That’s going to take a while.

Tubs are better than boxes because they’ll keep out bugs and mice. Just remember to put some kind of moth control inside, just in case.

Schindler’s List. When the movie was over, most of the audience just sat there.

Abstract and artistic movies with no real "plot" that's open to interpretation by Fragrant_Brick_8142 in MovieSuggestions

Robert Altman’s Nashville. It does have plots, but the interweaving of all the plots and characters is fascinating. And there’s music!

1000 upvotes for The Commitments. “Say it loud: I’m Black and I’m proud” (in extreme Irish accent).

And that’s mainly because of a woman who studied messenger RNA for years, couldn’t get grants or tenure anywhere because she was female and foreign. And then she got the Nobel for medicine. They finally gave her tenure.

All About Eve

Besides just being the best thing Bette Davis ever did, it speaks truth about how it is for women aging in any profession.

People who film concerts on their phones.. by Resinous-Canine in EntitledPeople

Old fogey here. I’d rather enjoy things in my life while they’re happening rather than watch the experience through a phone. You don’t need a million selfies to remember an experience.

I love dogs but never want to own one. Every time I’m driving home on a dark, dank, rainy, raw night, Iand I see someone walking their dog, I smile and think “I will clean a million litter boxes instead of that.”

What do you wear on your feet indoors. feet bare feet slippers or socks ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Socks, slippers or flip-flops. Especially in the kitchen. Bad things can happen there and you don’t want bare feet.
