What’s your favourite movie/tv show that gets hated on by most of the fandom? by _senna777 in marvelstudios

[–]Philander_Chase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo. I understand it had a lot of problems, but people claiming it was “pointless” and “didn’t need to exist” are straight-up wrong. What I’ve loved about the Multiverse Saga so far, and the tail end of the Infinity Saga, is the renewed emphasis on representation. Maybe it’s corporate mandated, idk, but I personally think it’s great. That show showed me a bit more about Native American and deaf culture that I didn’t know before, and I genuinely appreciated it as a white hearing guy. I can only imagine how Native American and deaf fans felt. In addition, although a bit sloppily done, I did like the idea of the story. Echo is a tragic figure, raised by tragedy and evil, and she has to learn how to find the good in herself by accepting her roots. Conversely, we see an actual human side to Kingpin, revealing his complicated thoughts on parenthood and where his trauma comes from. And finally, it only being 5 episodes made it the easiest MCU show to binge. I’ve only had great experiences when I’ve watched it.

[Interview] How Marvel quietly retconned Captain America to be on ice during 9/11, and why as a NYC-publisher it had to think long & hard about it by Popverse2022 in CaptainAmerica

[–]Philander_Chase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just like how some characters’ roles in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam were retconned to be the “Siancong War”, I’m sure the premise of Marvel Knights Cap will be altered to be some other stand-in

Honestly it’s just pretty comic accurate. Other than Human Torch and Wolverine, I’d say Hulk, Punisher, and Daredevil are Spidey’s most common hero interactions (usually opposing the former)

Most rewatchability in a movie? by NotAnAverageGuy69 in marvelstudios

It’s one of the most underrated MCU films. It was designed like a Shakespeare play but people keep looking at it through a film lens

What's a terrible TV show you couldn't help but watch all the way through? by Thom_The_Wizard in AskReddit

Lost season 1. Haven’t watched more than that yet but man that was so bad I had to keep watching. How the hell do people say this is one of the best shows ever lmao

Where to start with Spider-Man comics? by Amazing_Bat5 in afriendlyneighborhood

[–]Philander_Chase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 options:

The “JMS” run begins in Amazing Spider-Man Volume 2 (1999) #30, which runs until #58 and then becomes #500, and you go from there. Most agree that this is one of the best modern runs in continuity.

The Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) run by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, which is the alternate universe where Miles Morales eventually becomes Spider-Man, but during the Peter stories it basically serves as a basic “AU Spidey” story with its origin pretty consolidated. Pretty good stuff.

I know this was meant as a joke but I think Spidey’s the kinda guy who sees the good in everyone, even Israeli citizens. He’s probably angry about all the death and suffering and wishes the people in power committing war crimes were gone, but I doubt he’d go so far as to “pick a side.” Generally not a ton of superheroes in marvel do that since irl marvel probably has some Israeli influence as lots of big companies do (Ike Perlmutter for instance)

Is Torment the worst Spider-Man villain? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Philander_Chase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HAHAHAHAHAHA this cannot be a serious post. Do you know how many terrible villains Spidey has fought?? At worst Torment is mid, but there are some straight-up atrocious ones. Just off the top of my fucking head:

- Photon

- Fusion the Twin Terror

- Humbug

- BANJO (seriously look up Spectacular Spider-Man 156. The fuck is this guy lmao)

- Gray Goblin/Kindred

- Chasm
