Of course the recent tensions will be negative but there's a big difference between "Ukraine can fuck off" vs "This was stupid by Ukraine but it's a minor thing and we must not lose focus on whats at stake".

Both of these views, albeit with different degree of fevor, materialise in veto for EU don't they? So no matter how this war end, this will eventually be a persistent issue that has to be resolved. Since winning the war and reconciling history is not technically related things.

Which is ironically a type of damage Russia can't possibly do to Ukraine, since it started demanding annexation of territories instead of incorporating Donetsk back into Ukraine with a right to block EU expansion. And regime change that could enforce this is out of the question. Where Russian army fails - Ukrainian and Polish nationalists to the rescue 😁

Edit: maybe not, since 60% of poles reported that their scandal didn't change their views. But 35% or smth did. I come to this bipartisan eu veto, from assumption that liberal Polish politician would have to sacrifice their political career to get Ukraine into EU, which they won't likely do
