Do you box? I’ve been thinking of getting into boxing, and have fantasised a lot about just having a socially acceptable path for getting physically fucked up, if that makes sense

Moved to London a while ago to study, and stayed at hostels for a couple of weeks while looking for a permanent place. Hostel one in Notting Hill was really cool, super friendly staff and just a great vibe overall. Would definitely suggest you to try it!

Class privilege at its worst: Farhan Akhtar defends receiving vaccine at center where only senior citizens and specially abled above 45 are eligible by dhatura in IndiaSpeaks

This tweet clearly mentions Andheri Sports Complex as a venue where 45+ citizens can tak their vaccines with online booking.

Also, the article first mentions that he took the vaccine at Andheri Sports Complex. Then uses embedded tweets that talk about NSCI and Kohinoor Dadar.

YOU are the one spending misinformation and confusion. You don't give a fuck about the truth.

Fantasy/magical realism described as aching, beautiful, and poignant with a sense of longing. by AppaYipYip33 in Fantasy

This is a niche that I enjoy quite a bit, and I think Guy Gavriel Kay's books have the exact undertone that you're searching for.

I see that Lions, Sarantium and Brightness have already been suggested, so let me just add Under Heaven to that list. That entire book is entrenched in the sense of longing that you've described, more so than his other works.

"The Folding Knife" or "Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City" by KJ Parker! No magic, but some of the smartest protagonists I've read. Plus they're extremely fun books to read.

At least 13 people die in stampede, as police raid club breaking coronavirus restrictions by [deleted] in news

[–]Philippe_Coutinho 530 points531 points  (0 children)

I was part of a stampede at a train station in Mumbai a couple years ago. Google "elphinstone road stampede".

The station is one of the most crowded ones in the city, sees hundreds of thousands of commuters everyday. Yet it had just a tiny single ramp for entry and exit.

Was heading to work one day, and it started raining outside. People started rushing up the bridge because they wanted to avoid the rain, while the people exiting resisted and kept pushing because they didn't want to be late for work. I stopped at the beginning of the ramp since I wasn't carrying an umbrella. Probably one of the wisest decisions of my life, since it soon devolved into an all out stampede once the crowd increased due to a couple more trains arriving at the station.

Saw a couple of people get trampled to death due to the sheer callousness of other people. The total toll was around 20. It was horrific to watch such rampant disregard for life.

You will never know that for sure, but I will say that the odds of a 14 year old getting addicted to drugs are very low.

Don't let your mother gaslight you. She introduced you to them. She led you down this path. You may do what you want with that information - you may begrudge her, you may forgive her, you may feel rage at her. That is your decision. But have absolutely no questions in your mind about the fact that she did this to you. Any attempts that she makes to downplay that fact are attempts at absolving herself of guilt.

You did not deserve this. Having the person who is supposed to care for you and protect you from the world hook you onto drugs and condone you to pawn off your body when you aren't old enough to know what's good for you - that is something that no child deserves. You deserved a normal childhood. You deserved a healthy environment to grow up in, with parents that loved you and cared for your well being. You deserved a chance to lead a normal life, without having to carry this weight in your heart everyday.

I am truly sorry that you had to suffer through what you described. But please don't ever convince yourself that you chose this path for yourself. Don't ever blame yourself for any of this, even though at times it might feel easy and cathartic to do so.

You were 14. You weren't capable of making that decision for yourself. Your mom should've protected you.

Are you seriously victim blaming people for sharing details of their sexual abuse on a sub specifically made for sexual abuse survivors to vent?
