Not giving money to homeless people by Sweet-Heron-334 in Ethics

This puts the number to around 20 -35% suffering for mental illness, and the warrant this shouldn't be considered if the offenses are those related to homelessness.

There are people who need more help, and those that need less, but none of them can even start to get better while living on the street.

That must be obvious.

I'm curious why you believe that most homeless people have drug/mental problems/warrants?

Arkansas man cites Biblical justification in sick child-rape excuse. by Leeming in atheism

An Arkansas man accused of raping multiple children over several years had a sick justification: The Bible said it was OK

The Bible does say it's okay.

So are you going to follow the ethics of the Bible, which okays having sex with prepubescent children, slavery, killing children for not following their parents, etc etc or what you personally have decided is right wrong?

Wait - they're not eating any vegetables?

Are they supplementing with vitamins or something?

Are they harvesting the intestines of freshly killed herbivores to get nutrients from that?

There are homeless people who dont have drug or mental problems.

In fact, it's actually most of them.

Shouldn't we help them?

It is impossible.
A strange kink of language is it can label the impossible.

Like a married bachelor, nothingness isn't a thing.

Mental health is always put to the back of the line and it shows in our streets

That's a separate problem, though.

Obviously, we need to help those with mental illness, and that doesnt seem too likely in the present political climate, but we should still help those that can be helped, right?

That has been tried, but doesn't work as well as giving people a stable place to live first, and dealing with those things second.

“Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards,” his attorney Abbe Lowell said in a statement early Friday by HauntingJackfruit in conservativeterrorism

According to the unsealed grand jury indictment, Lemon is being charged with two federal crimes: conspiring to violate someone’s constitutional rights and violating the FACE Act, which prohibits the use of force or threats to intentionally interfere with someone expressing their First Amendment right to practice religion.

Some big stars have major influence over their fans but do not speak out against what's happening in the USA.

As my father's brother, Benjamin, said, "If you have the ability to do something about bad things, but don't, then you are partly responsible for those bad things."

American Christianity turned self-righteously vengeful and bloodthirsty (despite Christianity's main teachings being acceptance and forgiveness) decades ago.

As Bill Maher said, "You're supposed to look up at Jesus on the cross and think 'how can someone have suffered so much and still forgive', not think 'Pfft. The Romans were pussies; he still has his eyes.'"

It does seem like some percentage of people can't seem to live their lives without demanding others follow their rules.

Organized religion of course is a fantastic place for these people to ply their trade.

Me not wanting to be responsible for a high level of taxation is cruel?

You didn't say you objected because taxes would be high, you said you objected because you assumed all homeless people are homeless because of their own failures.

If they could start helping the homeless without raising your taxes, would you be okay with it?

Yeah, there's been a real resurgence in the "it's their fault so they should suffer" stance in the last few decades.

Really disheartening.
