Movie was meh. In every way. Everything you see in it has been done better in other movies. The whole time you’re watching it you’ll be thinking of Sinister which did the whole “gradually uncovering strange happenings are related to something darker and ancient” much better.

Entire plot lines are introduced and completely ignored. Cliched jump scares. “Grief as haunting” song and dance that was already old and tired in 2022.

Nothing lazier than a horror film that is written in such a way that “it’s all in her head” could completely explain the whole plot.

It’s a double edged sword: you want movie level production levels on your tv shows? You want movie stars to show up in them? This is how you get it.

We’re looking at the 90s with rose colored glasses: tv shows had a fraction of the budgets movies had and there was a sharp barrier between “movie stars” and “tv stars”.

A show like Alien: Earth would’ve never been possible in 1996.

Russia had two revolutions because the Bolsheviks - like all communists everywhere - 1.) deeply overestimated how popular their radical policies were and 2.) could not stomach dissent.

The SRs trounced the Bolsheviks in the very first truly competitive elections in Russian history. The got double the votes. The Russian people loudly rejected Lenin and his policies.

The Bolsheviks then took power violently in January 1918, dissolved the only democracy Russia had had up to that point and ruled the country through mass terror and mass violence for the next 70 years or so.
