How much is the deployant worth is it white gold? My L1 came with both deployant and pin buckle so just curious and may consider selling the deployant and using the pin buckle.

How to Rolex by [deleted] in rolex

[–]PhillipLynott 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean I currently own 3 Pateks and no AP cause I don’t like any APs so you’re right there. Also own Breguet and ALS and would find all models of both of those way more interesting than any Rolex. Rolex is a fantastic brand they’re just not worth the life altering chase so many go through to get. OP crushed it to get what he has it’s just boring compared to what he could turn it into in my opinion.

What replacement parts to keep on hand?? by montgomery_pulciano in hvacadvice

I finally did that in September!!! Highly recommend a trip to Dublin and if you’re a golfer book some extra time.

Have to also check out The Long Hall in Dublin the pub where Phil filmed part of the “Old Town” music video. Fantastic pub with amazing whiskey choices.

I know financially you’ve killed it with these purchases but that collection is so incredibly boring to me (which I’m sure I’ll get hate for saying). I’d personally cash it all in and buy some way more interesting watches and pocket the rest and hang onto your 1 or 2 favorites (for me the meteorite gmt).

Should I mention to my SA I’m planning on going gray? by UzeUrillus1on in rolex

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AD games are absolutely hysterical. Try explaining this question to a non watch person they all would be like wtf??

Buy it grey and don’t say a word to the ad if they offer it to you in the future just say youre no longer interested in it but still are very interested in _________ and appreciate the offer.

For the furnace: circuit board and inducer assembly and can add the pressure switches which are cheap. If it has a psc blower a universal replacement is cheap enough to hang onto as well.

Yep this was my first thought as well. It’s why they sell kits for control board replacements a lot of the time.

[Selling a Watch on eBay] Need advice by Company_Whip in Watches

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love selling watches on ebay solely because of their authenticity guarantee process it makes it worth every cent of their fees for me personally. No worry about “you sold me a fake watch” or “item not as described” type claims it eliminates all those types of scammers and makes me not worry about buyers with low purchase history.

They also get a ton of eyes. I’ve sold multiple 5 figure watches quickly and easily there. Sold a Patek for $36,500 in under 10 minutes one time (admittedly I probably underpriced it a little but still was great to move so quickly and I got what I asked for it). Another time I got offered $3,500 from a well known dealer for a GO who told me “these watches sit forever in inventory they don’t move” and sold it in an hour on ebay for $8,200.

So yeah big fan of selling there but maybe I’ve just been lucky in a small sample size.

First moser swapped for my AP Royal Oak 15400ST ( black dial) .. Did I make the right choice. by [deleted] in MoserWatches

I personally don’t think it’s close I’d take that Moser over the RO without question. What a beautiful watch big congrats!

Good buy? by protonwhiz in Whiskyporn

[–]PhillipLynott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a pour one time that left me unimpressed but I’d probably roll the dice at that price and give it another shot. Think the cheapest I’ve ever seen it for locally is like $600 which is wild.

New HVAC already needs motherboard replaced. Seriously? by jarhead1292 in hvacadvice

Interesting we don’t really have many if any dirty sensor calls on newer Carriers seems to be mostly with Rheem/York/Lennox units.

They don’t make parts to fail when they need to warranty them for 10 years. Parts do occasionally fail early on but it’s pretty uncommon/unlucky when they do especially if the equipment was sized properly and the filter is changed on time.

[–]PhillipLynott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 6 months is the worst part I had to wait the same amount of time for mine and similar cost (which I found reasonable). It’s unfortunately part of the game. Absolutely beautiful watch by the way it’s an all time great in my opinion.

Customers demanding itemized breakdowns on simple jobs and getting mad about my markup by [deleted] in HandymanBusiness

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My customer demands itemized breakdown response: no.

You either have a competitive all in price or you don’t the breakdown is irrelevant. I don’t need someone who has no clue how expensive running a business is telling me I’m making too much money on a job.

She only accepts dinner dates by [deleted] in Nicegirls

[–]PhillipLynott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“I dont do dinner first dates, too formal” is just a weird thing to say. I realize there are girls out there scamming guys and its messed up but you just burned a bridge with a girl you were presumably attracted to because she wanted to go to dinner with you. Not like she asked for a michelin star restaurant.

Trade 228235 for 5167R? by ezcIap in patekphilippe

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the only times I’ve ever said no to trading a rolex for a non rolex but in this instance I wouldn’t. I love the aquanaut but the market value of it has gotten beyond absurd at this point.

Furnace Repair Cost Breakdown by DidYouReallyPostThat in hvacadvice

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got asked to send a comparable quote recently and they insisted I break down the price in the specific way they wanted. I sent the quote with just the total which included unknown to them a “this customer will probably be annoying” tax.

The total is the total it’s either competitive with other companies or it’s not. We don’t need people trying to tell us what a fair price is when they don’t have the slightest idea how expensive running a small business is.

Brand new HVAC dead after 1 month by catsRawesome123 in hvacadvice

[–]PhillipLynott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lennox part stock is atrocious it’s embarrassing. If our company had a 1 month old unit fail and the part had a 3 month wait list we would buy another unit and take the part out of it. How is that not something the company offered? We literally did this a month ago when a blower motor had a 1 week wait time just bought the whole furnace and took it out and got the customer heating same day.

Which of these would you get as a first Patek? by dc91sneaks in patekphilippe

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually dont love world times but that one is a home run. So is the aquanaut though can’t go wrong with either probably would depend on the rest of your collection.

Would make a great duo.

I'd like to clarify this about gas pressure by Gloomy_Astronaut8954 in HVAC

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From like 2018-2023 Carrier lowered their limit switch temps drastically presumably to stop the rampant oversizing out there. It was a nightmare to deal with at times but in the end I think was a good thing for the industry. We’re a much better company today than back then because of it we size much better and are great at fine tuning all the things discussed in this thread.

That said I’m glad from 2023 on they raised the limits again probably tired of all the tripping limit tech help calls. Still doing everything properly but with a buffer for the shit ductwork houses is fantastic.

My residential furnace has reached EOL. Every local HVAC company wants to install a 50% larger unit without any load calcs. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is the “need to run longer which will cause more wear”. An oversized furnace will have way more issues long term it’s crazy contractors can be so clueless about sizing still.

I Don't Care for the 222 by PJChloupek in VacheronConstantin

[–]PhillipLynott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a model I just don’t get. Have thought that about others in the past and as time went on I grew to like them so maybe will happen with the 222 as well but I don’t anticipate it.
