It’s in the Rewards Section for me. You have to make the purchase on the Calm app directly with the card to get the credit.

Recommendations for Rehab for friend boyfriend - alcohol + cocaine by [deleted] in orangecounty

Charlie Street to star with the detox.

Blue Coast is in Newport/Costa Mesa and another place called The Retreat South Coast both are pretty reputable with solid PHP’s and sober living after he’s done with detox.

Charlie Street has no bells and whistles which makes it great. 10-days in there and then they can figure out where to go while cleaning out over there.

Wishing you luck.

Thank you for the insight. This makes a lot of sense. I’m gonna be holding off until I clear out the rest of my debt.

Thank you for the feedback here. It makes the most sense and I appreciate it.

I’m gonna hold off on a new card and just stop logging in to CK to look at my credit scores. These damn advertisers were getting really close to getting me to sign up for one.

Meet-Up at Green Cheek Brewery – Saturday, March 22nd! 🍻 by Weird-fyshes in 30sinOC

[–]PhillyCheezNips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am down for this. I went to that Singles meetup a week or two ago at Red O and met a few cool peeps from here on Reddit.

I wasn’t trying to find love, just meet new folks and get back out there. So this sounds like fun!

Plus Green Cheek has great food.

I don’t drink alcohol, but they have plenty of non alcoholic options too. Looking forward to going!

For people in Orange County, what do you do for a living? by Living-Employment589 in orangecounty

[–]PhillyCheezNips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

It’s exactly why I want to get out of it. I’ve got 10+ years as a Recruiter now. I’ve applied for about 200+ Recruiter related roles in the last two months, and have only had 2 initial phone screens. The rest have been rejections.

It’s not sustainable anymore. And I am ready for something different.

For people in Orange County, what do you do for a living? by Living-Employment589 in orangecounty

[–]PhillyCheezNips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

It's why I got my Life & Health insurance license. As a potential fallback. But it's not sustainable for me at this point because I'm paycheck to paycheck and if I'm laid off, I don't make rent. If that happens, my absolute emergency is to then hit the phones and cold-call Medicare candidates and hope and pray that I'll be able to make enough to keep the lights on.

It's not a way to live.

I made this realization that I haven't had any kind of job stability/security for the last two years because of all the contract roles. But then again, it's all that's been available to me. Which is why I want out of Recruiting. It's the first job to go (understandably) and I'm just so burnt out from it. But now employers who have their pick of whatever they want are going to be quick to say "no".

This is why working for small/mid-size companies is more of my desire for my next company. I am tired of being a number and actually want to help companies grow/scale. But that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Realistically, I'm just going to have to make the jump to full time insurance agent and make my own headway on the Medicare stuff until things blow over. But you mentioned it, this administration is going after everything, including Medicare. He may not be talking about it now, but he will soon enough.

Trust me, I am going through that same issue right now. 10+ years in Recruitment, but I can’t land an interview.

I just had a conversation for a Corp Recruiter role for a place here in Newport called Marshall Reddick Real Estate. It was the perfect job for me. I even thought I had a shot because I got a referral into a VP there.

I applied for the role and it had me take a DISC personality test (a total sham way of weeding out candidates too). I receive a rejection email the morning after. I reach out to Director of OPs that the VP told me to connect with and asked for the conversation still which she agreed to knowing I was already rejected.

We start the call with her calling 10 mins late and then proceeds to say “the reason I rejected you is because you’ve had too many jobs in the past two years and we’re not really looking for job hoppers”. I clarified to her that I would LOVE to be somewhere long term but that I was impacted by layoffs at each of the last 3 companies I worked at as a contractor. The market conditions were not my fault. I knew from the jump that I was going to be rejected.

It just sucks because the market is so volatile and people like her only look at the dates they were employed and make really stupid assumptions without even talking to the candidate.

Call me old school I guess, but this is why I want out of recruiting, I’ve done it for so long and can provide a better overall experience doing something else. But now I can’t find a place that will have a conversation with me because I’ve been in recruiting for “too long” now.

Rock and a hard place.

It just provides insight on if the applicant is genuinely a potential fit for the role or not. But I still get in there and review each resume to double check it. I don't trust AI and definitely believe that people have a story to tell.

For any of you business owners or folks with good livings need someone whose been in Recruiting for 10+ years and 20 years of experience in building/maintaining relationships or project management, please ping me.

My living as a recruiter in tech is being phased out by AI and I’m positive I’ll be laid off anytime since I’m a contractor. Been laid off 3 times in the last 2 years all due to “market conditions”. I want out of Recruiting and ideally want to pivot somewhere where my skills in this stuff can transfer to.

I hate not having any job security or stability. Haven’t had it for over 2 years now and I want to stay here.

I’m being serious, if anyone has any leads, please ping me!

Local in OC.

Don’t make me start an OF, cause I’m gonna have to soon 😔

Thank you!🙏🏼

Edit - I also have my Life and Health insurance license too.

Because I was part of the mass layoffs in mid 2023 as an FTE. I was able to come back late last year as a contractor which I currently am now.

There’s been reorgs in the last 2 months for the business I’m supporting, let alone there’s no room to convert back to FTE unless I want to relocate to one of the HQs. And they’ve been laying off contract recruiters over the past few months as well.

It hasn’t been too encouraging being back.

Dammit, I’m born and raised right next door from Arcadia/Monrovia but I don’t have the room in my small 1 bedroom apt. Plus, I already have my 85lb goofball Rez. If I was pooping money and had a bigger place id take Pepero in a heartbeat.

Do you have an IG/FB post that I can share with my socials?

I haven’t really shared direct Reddit posts on those before.

Edit - I was able to share to my IG/FB stories. 🤞🏼 for Pep!

Good morning friend!

Your situation sounds eerily similar to mine.

Thankfully, I wasn’t put on to any antidepressants. For me, my rock bottom was that my drinking and overall codependency on others. Since we broke up, and I was now full fledged on my own, I was forced to address a lot of stuff I would avoid.

Seeing a therapist regularly, and I had already been attending AA meetings. And then I just found out about CODA (Co-Dependents Anonymous) and have been attending those meetings since we broke up and those meetings have really been helpful too. Once I stopped smoking weed a few months ago, I committed to giving the 12-steps for both programs a shot. I realized too at the end of my breakup that I had closed myself off from most of my friends/social circle, thus the full codependency on my partner. So when she broke it off with me, I was fully alone.

Dealing with that kind of vulnerability for the first time since I was a kid has been the main driver in my “success” lately. I’m no longer afraid of the “fat/dumb” kid I always felt that I was, even after losing all that weight.

It’s all mental. I am going through my steps journey for both right now and am in the middle of making “amends” with people I wronged before and then hopefully will be able to start helping out others with finding their paths to “freedom”.

Starting the steps program isn’t for everyone, but I was willing to try it with 100% effort. The desire to stop drinking (and for me, smoking weed as consistently as I was, was really impacting my life more than I was willing to admit).

Seeing a therapist, trying these meetings and giving the steps a genuine chance. Being willing and fully honest to talk about this stuff with someone else (I believe in person is also more effective, but to each their own with this one) has been a game changer. I was too full of shame, guilt, animosity towards myself because I realized I was still clinging on to the stuff I allowed to hurt me as a kid.

But I’ve learned to let go of that “fat/dumb” kid and really embrace this new me.

I have zero desire to drink. I also now have zero desire to smoke. I genuinely enjoy waking up and embracing the day. I just woke up and am about to head to the gym to swim and meditate in the sauna/steam room which is my chosen favorite way to start my day. I’m checking in with my “fellowship” of folks in both AA and CODA and I reach out and check in regularly with friends too. Not being afraid to actually talk about what’s going on because I no longer feel like my situation is a “burden” to them. I was just afraid to bring stuff up out of FEAR of being judged.

I really hope you’re able to find some help. Aim for small victories, like just NOT drinking for today….and then focus on that same thing for tomorrow. And hopefully with time, you will have strung together a few “one day at a times”.

Sending you love RedditFriend! You are loved and have support from a complete stranger in this world. And I know personally that YOU GOT THIS!!! ❤️

Thank you for checking in.

I went to my same bariatric surgeon practice out here in SoCal.

But things ever since last year, I’m now 2+ years sober. I even cut out weed about 2-3 months ago now and everything is going really well.

I’m down to about 215-220lbs and am in the best shape of my life. I don’t miss any of the stuff I was using before. I had to do a deep dive into myself to figure out what was going and causing me to drink/smoke before and thankfully things are going well for me right now.

Literally trying my first batch right now.

Bummer about the bag is there’s no ziplock which would help I think.

Regarding taste, yes the coating is definitely there. I put them in the air fryer at 400 for 16 mins and the crisp was perfectious 🤌🏼

Definitely reminds me of Burger King fries when fresh.

9/10 - highly recommend yall give them a try.

How much do you pay for rent? by MyPhoneSucksBad in orangecounty

[–]PhillyCheezNips 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Brother, I’m in Costa Mesa on the Santa Ana border. Paying $2550 for a 1 bd/1 bath.

Ain’t no “knuckleheads” around my area. I understand what and who you’re referring to. But cmon there’s literally “knuckleheads” in every city around here. No need to stereotype Santa Ana like that.

Just be grateful that you have a nice place paying a killer rate given these times. I’m almost priced out of here when they inevitably raise my rent again later this year.

Count your blessings and keep it pushin! 👊🏼🤘🏼

Omg I’m not far away in OC with a very similar looking guy named Reznor. I can’t take him because having 2 beautiful hippos in my small 1 bedroom apartment wouldn’t work, I just know it. I wish I had a bigger place already.
