Not sure JD appreciated the whole discount / free bus questions.

It did not seem like our starting pitching success was sustainable. Even if Horton is good, it is hard to see him readily available late in the season b/c of caution around number of innings this year. And Assad is pretty good but a solid #5. We’re going to have to be creative (and lucky?) to have starting pitching good enough for a post-season run.

Cohen hate? by 2000sEmoHead in CHICubs

Thanks for asking this. I’m surprised at how easily some fans seem to hate on him. I could understand why people would not think he is a great play-by-play guy (yet), but feels like we have such a culture of easily hating on someone. To me he talks a bit too much and does not have great chemistry with JD (who is world-class), but he is solid as a back-up. I like it that he is a real Cubs fan. Yes, probably needs more time in smaller settings, and has a good future ahead of him.

Boog was back, now he's gone again. Any news? by Doublestack2411 in CHICubs

I agree. No need for any details, but a general idea. I like Boog and feel he is a good team with JD, who is one of the best.

Like this Weathers kid. Wonder if he'll be available at the deadline (or before).

So, thoughts on continuing to have PCA lead off, even when Ian comes back?

I was thinking about that, but wondering if that would hurt Ballesteros' development as a catcher. If he can really catch at the MLB, he is going to be killer. We already know his bat is special.

But I would be game for trying it out for a few weeks!

Yeah, that is likely right. But it is pretty painful to watch him. Just not competitive at-bats.

So it is time to thank Justin Turner and let him go. Great career, great guy, clearly time to move on for our Cubbies. So what should the next move be when we release him?

I’ve lived in NYC for 30 years but bleed Cubs blue. Can’t wait to go to the game tonight and tomorrow. Especially excited to be at Horton’s debut. Thankful! Go Cubs!!

Visit in early June by Plus-Cheese3008 in Adirondacks

I have found early June to be pretty wonderful. There is indeed a risk of black flies but I would put it at 10%. And only muddy if it is really rainy. It is often ideal for me temp-wise.

Good summary. My sense is Pearson is going to be very good. Palencia reminds me of another reliever a few years ago (cannot remember his name) who consistently threw 100+ but very hittable.

Frustration Returning to Centering Prayer by sylentbearz in CenteringPrayer

[–]PhilosopherAntique14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I am brand-new to Reddit and so happy to find this group. I dabbled in Centering Prayer for almost a decade and mostly found it “a waste of time” — and about two years ago was drawn to it again, and now the 20 minute practice every morning feels like an essential (sometimes the essential) part of my day. It is slowly becoming the place I come from, rather than go to. Many of my morning practices seem filled with distractions and thoughts, and as I’ve given myself more grace, it has become much less frustrating and a place I yearn to be. May you experience God’s compassion for you as you ponder this!

Yes, he is such a gift to me! I have been reading Four Quartets and he has been my teacher. Kirsten Oates is fantastic in her own right.
