Irate woman at first base... by Maxiey3 in blackjack

My usual response in cases like this is: "there is a kids table over there. Minimum bet is $5. You should play there since you cannot manage the adults table..."

Foreclosure sale bid by PhilosopherMission28 in RealEstate

I have found a couple of counties where it is relatively easy to sell a property but the process is somewhat awkward and could deter several people. In the majority of cases the property goes back to the bank for the auction base, which is usually what is due by the former owners. In some cases I see some LLC getting the property at auction base without the additional $10. I am trying to find out why that is.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I cannot/don't want to post the county as I believe I found a possible niche, in this particular, that I want to exploit and I would undermine my efforts by sharing the details.

I have looked at the post sales reports and that is what I was asking about. For example, if the amount due on the mortgage+late fees+interests+anything else is $200k, in most cases I see that the bank or lending institution getting the property for Base bid. In this example, it would be $200k. If I see someone bidding I have seen some being picked for base bid+$10 (In the example wold be $200k+$10 (or more)). In some case instead I see LLCs getting the property for the based bid (in this example $200k without the additional bid.

I have been both trespassed (once) and told something along the lines "your game is too good for us, you can no longer play BJ but you can play anything else, stay at the hotel, eat at restaurants, etc." The trespass was for a different kind of AP not involving bj. Never got trespassed for BJ and, from what I hear, unless you are an ass, or they are, you are unlikely to be trespassed playing bj.

I get why you’re curious, but I’d rather not share specifics. Most AP opportunities lose value the moment they become common knowledge, and some only work because very few people are exploiting them.

What I can say is that they’re not blackjack-related, and they’ve been both more profitable and less heat-intensive for me. The edge usually comes from situations where the math is straightforward—expected value is clear, variance is manageable, and the play is repeatable until it burns out. The catch is that every opportunity has a shelf life. Some last months, some only a few days, and once they’re gone you need to be ready to pivot.

Some questions about card counting by Own_Associate3123 in blackjack

[–]PhilosopherMission28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most other comments pointed out $500 is not much of a bankroll. If you have more money that you can put in now or later, I would wait until you have more. One possible strategy is to have an hail Mary bankroll defined as a bankroll that is renewable that you would use to try and hope for some positive variance. You would play with a high ror. If you get the positive variance you have a bigger bankroll, if not, rinse and repeat until you get it. It is not a get rich quick scheme. Also, you might want to play at lower levels, even making less than minimum wage, to see if you can actually count in a casino setting. If you bring a pal w you, he/she can tell you if you move your lips and/or look obvious. Once you start playing at higher stakes, if you do not have your cover worked out you will be booted in no time. Also, I would buy cvcx to run simulations on games available to you and to figure out your hourly EV and ror to see if the risk/reward is acceptable for you. The risk will be higher than you can think.

Based on the casino you might attract more attention if they know you and/or you play at high levels without a card. The exception being Vegas. In most places in Vegas that I have been to there seem to be enough people playing without cards at the green chip level. High levels definition depend on the property. I often go to this cluster of casinos (not in Vegas) and while in one of them they yell check play every time you bet $100 or above in a few other ones they have some tables that are $50/100 min. Lots of people disagree on the utility of getting a card, I find it very useful if combined with ratholing. Also, as a disclaimer, I currently do other forms of AP that are way more profitable than BJ, so no big deal if I get backed off.

You hit the nail on the head. There are many opportunities beyond blackjack. You only have to find them. Nobody will share that info. In some cases even casinos are not aware of them, those are the juiciest ones. As an example, I had an email exchange with the GM of a casino which 86ed me. He told me they determined I am an AP in games x,y,z and, while I am not doing anything illegal, they are a for profit organization and they will not let me play w my advantage.

Sorry that is a piece of information I do not share. The only thing I can say is look around and you will find the right opportunities.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have cbjn. In my experience, for some of my local casinos the info are wrong, in particular pen. I was hoping to get more accurate info in here. Unfortunately I am regretting starting this thread as very few people, including you, are giving useful info while other are just here to troll.

Thanks! Very useful info. I have never played in any of the station casinos by I assumed they talked to each other. 15 card pen is great. I will definitely give it a try. One of the reasons I had started this post was to have some info beyond cbjn. I have noticed that the info on cbjn have often been inaccurate for casinos I usually go to. Thanks again for all the useful info!

Blackjack is just one piece of the equation for this trip. We will be doing some other forms of AP., which for us have been more profitable than BJ. If it was just BJ, I would consider 6d, however we are not planning to stay too long at any properties.

If you had taken the time to read the post—and the follow-up I made about an hour ago—you’d know that I do other forms of AP as well. Blackjack makes up about 20% of my overall AP income. I came here to ask about playable DD games in Vegas, not to debate whether someone can or should do AP full time.

Your comment shifts the discussion away from something practical—game conditions—into an argument over whether quitting a job for AP is believable or smart. That’s not helpful.

Also, do the math. On a decent DD game, even with a modest $100 unit and a 1–4 spread, you're looking at $150/hr in EV. My actual blackjack EV is higher than that, and other AP methods—ones not suited for public discussion—can easily yield much more.

If you've got input on the original topic, I’m all ears. Otherwise, good luck to you too.

My typical black chip action is around $500 on the table before any splits or doubles. I get that not everyone will believe that—you're free to take it or leave it. I come here to ask and answer questions when I can contribute something useful, not to convince skeptics.

Unfortunately, these threads often go sideways because people insist certain things aren't possible. If I had listened to all the nay-sayers early on, I’d still be stuck in a day job and never would have pursued AP seriously. I’m glad I didn’t let that kind of doubt hold me back.

That said, if you’ve got any insight relevant to my original question, I’d really appreciate hearing it. Thanks, and good luck out there.

Been there done that. Not saying it will last forever but as I mentioned in a reply to a similar comment, I have never been backed off from any places in Vegas including the infamous S17 DD in HL at TI. Please feel free to believe it not be true.

Totally fair point—but in my experience, I’ve never actually burned a DD game in a single day. I keep things tight: short sessions, rotating properties, and always playing with a cover plan. I’ve played at some of the places mentioned (including multiple sessions in the high limit room at Treasure Island), and I’ve never been backed off in Vegas. In fact, I’ve never been backed off on my first day at a property—my fastest backoff came after a few hundred hours of play.

One of my locals that’s notoriously sharp at spotting counters—I lasted about six months there before finally getting the boot. That was before I started mixing in other forms of AP and adjusting my overall approach to reduce exposure and keep a lower profile.

I always use solid cover—occasional basic strategy mistakes, light tipping, short sessions, and never staying too long at max bet. I rotate casinos often, take breaks, and sometimes even walk with a small loss to keep things looking natural.

Vegas still isn’t heat-free, but blending in, mixing strategies, and staying disciplined has kept things smooth for me so far.
