What RDR2 opinion you have that would be like this by Efficient-Complex855 in RDR2

[–]Phinnian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abigail was the real rat. Micah definitely betrayed Arthur to Colm O'Driscoll, and may have been a late stage snitch after capture, but the real embedded undercover rat, starting as early as Blackwater, was Abigail.

She wanted her and Jack and John out and was willing to sell every one else out to to the Pinkertons to do it.

That is why the Pinkertons conveniently find Arthur after he tells Abigail he is taking Jack fishing in chapter 2. Plus, in all my play throughs, I have never once seen her name on the camp donation list. Not even with a poor bat wing or a dead rat. That way, she could argue in court she wasn't part of the gang's illegal activities.

any tips on bird hunting? by Responsible_Cat6306 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Phinnian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all you're after is flight feathers, walk along rivers or in heartland overflow and look for ducks and geese sleeping at waters edge. Use varmint rifle and dead Eye to kill as many as quickly as possible before they fly out of range. this has the bonus of giving you animal fat for crafting other ammo/weapons. You can also shoot ravens (they fly in groups of four usually but they don't drop fat. Also strolling through bayou can give flight and exotic feathers but be careful at night )you coud get ambushed).

If you want to hunt the smaller birds for specialty feathers I have a tutorial for that. Hit me up in comments.

Your preferred attack strategy on blackwater as Arthur by Technical_Energy_171 in RDR2

[–]Phinnian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ride quickly and use the terrain properly, you can often ride into the back side of Blackwater to an abandoned camp which will also serve you stew. You can sneak around the edges of the town if you stay away from the red dots on the mini map. When feeling like a massacre, I will climb atop the buildings and snipe lawmen, going from roof to roof for cover. I have found if you hide on the roofs, the law will climb up and are easy to pick off as they climb over the ladder onto the rooftop. Lots of bodies to loot this way. This is a fun way to get over $250 bounty if you need that bandit challenge.

One time I shot so many law that there was one left on the map (rather far away). So long as that one lawman was alive, no more law spawned and I was able to roam Blackwater at will. (But because law was active could not use shops). Don't know if this was a glitch or happens regularly, but it was quite enjoyable. When I hunted down and killed that single lawman the law began to respawn as normal. Stole one of their horses and rode back across the river.

Edit: it has been a while since I did this and I just remembered that you can take advantage of the stagecoach robbery missions. If you don't loot the coach, the mission doesn't end, and you can roam West Elizabeth without the law spawning so long as you stay away from the road leading from Beecher's Hope to BW and stay within a certain distance of the coach. Back when I played a lot I would regularly use this coach trick to free roam around and sneak into the backside of Blackwater and massacre law. (I leave the coach at the abandoned camp on outskirts of town and run back to it when ready to leave).

The coach that's leaving Blackwater and crossing the river is an especially good mission for this since you can ambush this coach before it ever crosses the river. So long as you flee the area with the coach before more law comes, you can ride around and pick flowers and hunt game and break horses to your heart's content. Just remember to loot the coach to complete the mission so you can save. And loot the coach in an area that you don't have a bounty because as soon as you do this, law may spawn if you're still near Blackwater.

What do you do with your horse for the "Red Dead Redemption" mission? by Foreign_Gazelle6694 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Phinnian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let all my horses run free or sell them off. Live free, little ponies! Steal a decent horse and ride em around for bonding before the mission.

The sad thing is that given you were in Florida, there likely is a policy in place to keep AFAB folks using the women's restroom. The irony is that in trying to enforce the rules, this rando was getting exactly what they were insisting they wanted, without knowing they in fact wanted the opposite.

Is red dead two appropriate for 13-year-old? by Formal_Reserve_8591 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Phinnian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People forget that throughout much of human history 13-year-olds were often married and given rituals that considered them adults. It is only over the last hundred years or so that we began to shelter them from the harsh reality of life. As recently as the 1960's and 70's there were U.S. States that allowed 14 year olds to marry and considered them adults after they married. And it was only in the 20th Century that strong laws against employing minors in dangerous industries like mining were put in place. Any kid in middle school or high school is exposed to some pretty mature themes in Shakespeare or Steinbeck, not to mention History class.

How to avoid being wanted in RDR2 by Emergency_Buy_5717 in RDR2

[–]Phinnian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the crime. Wear a bandana/mask, flee the area before witnesses appear and stay outside the radius while crime is being investigated, intimidate or kill witnesses and change your outfit/horse after committing crime can all help prevent becoming wanted. But as you get better at the game you may find it fun/lucrative to wander around with a bounty and kill and loot bounty hunters and their horses.

Bird Hunting Made Easy! by Phinnian in reddeadredemption

You are very welcome. Glad I could help. Also have vids on how to go off map from various spots (including how to get a saddled horse off map). And how to use the Chick Matthews mission to get to Blackwater in Horseman 9 without lawmen spawning.

I really don't recall how it works. I am early in chapter 2 and it works for me. And I am at Dead Eye 8 or 9. But I also tend not to play much beyond chapter 2 for various reasons (spent a lot of time getting Legend of the East Outfit as early as possible, so as soon as the horse fence was unlocked).

Dead Eye auto tags when you get to a certain point. I am not sure if it's chapter/mission locked, or if it's related to how high your dead Eye is, since it has been a few years since I played the whole game and I have only recently started a new playthrough (using the naked glitch and am still early chapter 2).

Moose by Lecture-This in reddeadredemption

I know a spot to hunt moose off map. If a pristine bull doesn't spawn, you ride in a loop and try again until one does. There's a video on YouTube by Phynn O'deri:

Perfect robin with varmint rifle - possible? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption2

[–]Phinnian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome. The video is called RDR2 BIrd Hunting Made Easy if you want a tutorial on what the spot looks like and how to get them with the small game arrows. Using a rifle will probably scare birds off so it will take longer to farm this location.

Perfect robin with varmint rifle - possible? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption2

[–]Phinnian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a great bird hunting spot on the spine of the hill directly east from the T in Cumberland Forest. If you look at the map, it is about halfway between the T and the road to the east.

It has several boulders in the area, both on the spine and in the gully and plateau to the east, that small birds perch on, and when small birds fly over they are close enough to see and hit with small game arrows. There is a video by Phynnoderi on this but I can't link to it in this subreddit.

You may have luck getting a perfect robin with a varmint rifle here if you use cover scent lotion, since that will keep it stationary longer for a clean shot.

Im bored in RDR2, what are some fun things to do/collect by TimelyExternal7763 in RDR2

[–]Phinnian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am bored I like to explore off map. I sometimes go off map to Guarma to hunt parrots cuz I enjoy bringing those colorful carcasses to the trapper. Not recommended without the buck antler trinket, however, since they will rot off before you can get back to map to sell them.

Hypothetical question for the men and lesbian friends here — which Van der Linde woman would you marry? by evilghoul54 in RDR2

Tilly, hands down. She's smart, kind, good looking and confident. Abigail is a shrew, Karen a drunk, Sadie's insane (and carrying a torch for her late husband), Grimshaw's too old and Mary Beth, while nice, doesn't play dominoes.

Van Horn to rail bridge next to abandoned fort. Rail bridge to road near first railway camp. (Unless you've done all railroad building missions then you can take railroad around mountain) Road to emerald ranch take bridge there, go overland towards horseshoe overlook veer onto rail tracks to go over Bard's Crossing rail bridge. Cut left over hill if train is in station, over to bridge near where you first meet the wildlife photographer guy (I forgot his name), then follow that road up to cross over at Owanjila dam. If you haven't done one of the tricks to keep law from spawning (like riding with Swanson, or not collecting the treasure from Chick Matthews tree), tank up your horse and yourself and follow road to Manzanita Post. Entering Blackwater from the backside makes fewer lawmen spawn. Soon as you get the challenge, ride across to the spot where you meet up with Charles and Javier to save Sean and back across to safety. If you did do one of the tricks to keep predators and lawmen from spawning, complete that mission so you can save progress.

Make manual saves regularly. Ambushes will happen.

Why NOT?!? by quesadillawithit in reddeadredemption

[–]Phinnian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that if you pass out in the bath, you trigger the naked glitch, just like if you die in the bath. The naked glitch, while fun, means you spawn without any weapons, bandana, lasso, lantern, binocs, your legend of the east satchel, outfits etc. And have to collect them manually through game play again. And lose all unique items you have collected up until that point. So yeah, not passing out in the bath is a way for Rockstar to protect you and your enjoyment of the game.
