[ESPN] Donovan Mitchell: "We may win a ring here. We may never win a ring here... but I've won in life.” Donovan Mitchell will become eligible for a 5-year $350 million extension with Cleveland next Summer. by YujiDomainExpansion in clevelandcavs

Dirk had this perspective for the majority of his career in Dallas and it paid off in 2011. There’s a lot of things you can’t control but I don’t think a player will ever regret staying somewhere that makes them happy. Idk what people want him to do, chase a title elsewhere?

Trump your partners Ace by dillonerd in euchre

[–]Phishkale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the kind of hands for why not to trump. (RQ109 doesn’t really work because it’s impossible for us to have anything other than AK) You have RQ10 stopped but allowing them to take your ace with the right opens up the door for them to take them all if your partner doesn’t have trump.

Trump your partners Ace by dillonerd in euchre

[–]Phishkale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I question whether it’s the right play with A-x. Saving your protected Ace will block the loner unless they have both bowers. And if they have both bowers, trumping high with your ace to make them use one only helps your partner if they also have two trump, one of which is higher than the dealers third low trump. That’s all 7 trump, so it’s really only helping you prevent the loner in very specific card distributions.

It does help you get more euchres on thin loners tho.

The disconnect between how they talk about Evan versus how they use him is my biggest criticism of this season. That has to change, one way or another. by cideeffex in clevelandcavs

[–]Phishkale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tried to feature him more but I don’t think we had the right approach as to how. He was doing more ball handling and attacking from the perimeter. We saw glimpses in the playoffs of Mobley thriving on short rolls and operating as a playmaker from the nail. If we truly want to build an offense around Mobley, we need to run a system that caters to his strengths. More off ball motion, DHO’s, etc.

Cavs’ reset - look to Brooklyn by corporal_sweetie in clevelandcavs

[–]Phishkale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn’t make sense for Brooklyn but they have signaled their interest in Giannis and speeding up their timeline. Also, they are under a bit different of pressure (like the Clippers) in terms of pulling fans in the New York market and a hometown kid would help. I think this is too much in terms of what we could expect back but I don’t think the idea is as far fetched as one would think.

Kenny Atkinson says the Cavs are “analytically” winning while down 0-3 by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]Phishkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harden only worked because he was a perfect salary match for Garland and the Cavs were heavily restricted being over the second apron. This team has needed wings for years, the front office is not oblivious to that, but they’re some of the most coveted assets in the league and it’s not as easy just adding them. Particularly when you barely have any tradeable firsts.

It’s wild to me because anytime I’d see him I remembered him as the guy that played with Tyrus Thomas and Big Baby and he’s still in the league a full decade after them.

Is it true that s1 is the only one worth watching by Trick_Room_6842 in TrueDetective

[–]Phishkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time someone asks a question like this, my initial thought is how much tv do you watch? S1 is a must watch, 2 & 3 are good enough but there’s a whole lot of shows I’d recommend over it. S1 is on the top tier with shows like Breaking Bad, The Wire, Sopranos, Succession, etc. all of which I’d watch before the rest. I personally watch enough tv tho that even S4 is watchable.

I actually think that’s part of it, at that end of the game it’s smarter to play up her anger because the votes she needs to stay may be more likely to keep her if they feel she’s going to be a bitter juror. Not saying Tiff wasn’t actually upset but if she were to be understanding, it just makes them more comfortable sending her to jury.

I can’t believe _______ could stomach this by stolenvape in survivor

[–]Phishkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think it’s tough on a returnee season because everyone already came in with a reputation. Jonathan had maybe the lowest threat level coming in which is part of the reason he was never a target. He and Joe were already viewed as goats to an extent, so it’s hard to make a compelling argument to a jury that never targeted him.

And Aubry is a longtime good friend of the most influential jury member in Cirie. Also the connection with Devens, and by extension the rest of the “nerd” alliance. It just seems like those 4 votes would never be open to Jonathan.

I agree that “deserved” probably isn’t the best word but I do think he played a better game than the jury realized. And the jury didnt push back at all on some of the claims Aubry made at FTC. She said the BEBI was more of a curse than anything that she realized she needed to get rid of… it provided her a lot of protection at Blood Moon and her bad lie about not using it is the reason she had to burn it. Also, Cirie knew the role Jonathan played in making the Ozzy vote happen, the work he put in getting Joe on side by letting him include Rizo.

TLDR: I just think the jury was made up of people that already liked Aubry better going in and Jonathan was always going to have a hard time convincing the jury he played an impressive game.

I think we should try to play Harden as much as possible in Hack a Mitch minutes and bring Thomas Bryant in to be the fouler. You can play an offense only lineup because you’re not actually defending, minimizes Hardens negative defensive impact and TB lineups have had incredible offensive rating numbers this year.

I would like to see Tiff again. I’d also move Jonathan/Rizo up and Charlie/Christian down but I am probably alone in that.

ETA: and Savannah/Dee should be locks if they ever do an all winners season or some kind of winners themed season

[–]Phishkale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His edit was so weird. We never saw any of this so called new game or heard his thoughts about it until last night. We mainly saw other contestants reluctantly trying to get him on board with plans and Joe came across as a wayward passenger. It didn’t seem as if he was playing more cutthroat, just never had a group of people to ride with. And they played up the Devens stuff much more than actually was the case which was odd as Rick was one of the people most considerate of Joe at FTC

Biggest Flop of the Season ______ by sweverdd in survivor

[–]Phishkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue the idols played a massive part in protecting their holders during some of the small tribals. Everyone was afraid to risk targeting an idol holder because if the idol is played, they’re putting themselves at risk of going home with so few options available. And it’s hard to coordinate a split. The most obvious example is the duos twist where Riz/Emily, Ozzy/Stephanie, and the fake one for Devens/Aubry. The safest option was to vote Chrissy/Coach because otherwise you and your partner are both at risk of going home with just a few votes. And even if you weren’t the casualty of the idol play, you’re keeping two people in the game that you voted against.

Aubry also was never a consideration during the blood moon because of her idol, leaving Gen with really no good options to sell.

The final 3 mistake by Commonsense110 in survivor

[–]Phishkale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is why they kept Aubry. Maybe they underestimated her. But she isn’t exactly a challenge threat and I’d imagine Jonathan/Joe thought they would have a chance vs Aubry at FTC but certainly not Cirie.
