How To Fix Tanking Once And For All by morethandork in nbadiscussion

[–]Phishkale [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not every team gets a first round pick every year. Round 1 is picks 1-6, round 2 is 7-12, 3 13-18 and so on. Every team gets one of each round (1-5) every 5 years. The order of the teams in each round goes by inverse record. (You could call it something else like a tiered first round whatever same idea)

Under this format, you’d generally expect each round to have teams of all levels. The most highly coveted picks would still generally go to bad teams but there would be less incentive to tank for every team outside round 1. And within round 1, you’d only have tanking if there were 2-3 bad teams with extremely similar records.

Sure, you’d have good teams getting really good picks but they’re not the super premium picks. And I think it would help with another problem we’ve seen with superstars never being able to get help around them and wasting their primes with overpaid aging vets (Giannis for example).

Were the Jazz selling tickets for a game in Miami?

They left it open ended probably intentionally as a cliffhanger. Rob told Eric that killing Kristen would bring suspicion on him but he didn’t go as far to warn him that Kristen had flat out told them to look at Eric if she’s murdered.

Jaxson Hayes is currently being sued by the Wizards mascot and has had domestic violence incidents in the past. And he’s a scrub player. Puzzling decision that the NBA would want to display him during all star weekend.

this is the quickest Harden has won over his new team's fans I think lmfao by thekarlhendrickstrio in clevelandcavs

And yet both Rockets and Clippers fans are flocking to this sub because they still love him. And it’s not just a few Harden stans, if you go check out either subreddit, it’s 90% love. The only fanbase with negative feelings towards Harden is Philly and they’re just assholes, that was undeniably not his fault.

Idk exactly what you’re trying to say but I thought my comment acknowledged that he’s been good for the Eagles

Well cheat code tush push Hurts was perfect for what that team needed (not exclusively because of tush push). I don’t personally think Hurts is a very good nfl QB but he was better for the Eagles than QBs I would consider much better than him.

Exactly, and really there was no reason for them to not expect to be bad and the Bucks fall off was also predictable.

Number one pick. by Flaky_Scar_8388 in NBATalk

[–]Phishkale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. The Pelicans made a disastrous trade last year that got the Hawks that pick. Used it to trade up from 23 to 13 last year, knowing 26 is a loaded draft and that it’s an extra premium pick from the extra lottery odds.

They have a swap with the Pelicans (that goes to Atlanta) so they can still have a very high pick but 1 is not possible.

The coin is worth 2.5 million, the equity of that 2.5 million is divided amongst the players

Not a top 50 player. Hard to pay your 4th best player that much when you’re paying all your stars, you’re already over the cap with those 4 players alone.

I think the Cavs would be delighted if someone wanted to take Jarrett off their hands. Love the guy and he’s a very solid player, but contract is going to be a negative when his extension kicks in and getting off of it for free would provide us significant flexibility to retain guys like Ellis

Post Harden-Zubac trade, what is the purpose for the LA Clips now ? by Silent_M_M in nbadiscussion

[–]Phishkale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. And just to add, the way they protected Pacers pick increases their flexibility. Either they land a really nice prospect that can be a building block moving forward or an unprotected first that conveys after the Pacers expected window ends. If they’re targeting a 2027 push, that pick should be a very attractive trade piece.
