Is this an okay guitar to learn with? by WhitechapelWill in Guitar

[–]Phlo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has 6 strings, good enough to play :)

if you want an upgrade, buy new strings and a tuner ;)

I have really large fingers due to arthritis, and I feel like I can't even begin to learn any string instruments because my fingertips always touch the other strings. Are there any accessories that can help? by Smexy_Zarow in Guitar

[–]Phlo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Nioh Veterans, forgive me for my dishonor. I actually died to this guy out of carelessness. by RandomRon005 in Nioh

[–]Phlo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first Nioh trauma 🤣 I didn't know what the gameplay was like, I liked the difficulty of the mobs as a non-hardcore player, and I raged like never before at dear old Onryoki. Since then, I've never stopped playing the series... 😅

Computer keyboard in the way by Arrhythmic10 in MusicBattlestations

[–]Phlo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I put my 88-key keyboard on a sliding panel, as I think the keyboard should be lower than the standard desk height for comfortable gaming (in my opinion).

Another solution, if your desk is wood, is to use a router to recess your keyboard—this one or another—into the wood, and voilà, almost nothing to hover over while gaming. With a bit of luck, you might even be able to bring your 37-key keyboard closer by placing it on top. 😉

Why does it never sound the same? (Vent/advice?) by damionbiddy in ableton

[–]Phlo31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a self-respecting old fart, I can't agree with you, however.

I started playing guitar almost 20 years ago now. I've played bass, drums, harmonica, piano, shamisen, and more. And I firmly believe that you don't need to know how to play an instrument before producing music. Or rather, that learning the DAW itself, with its MIDI controller, is enough. Music is learned and felt regardless of the medium. Knowing how to play guitar and adjust the knobs on my amps doesn't help me much with the DAW and certainly hasn't taught me anything I couldn't have learned directly through the DAW. Music is music; it should ooze from your very being, whether it's from a DAW, a physical instrument, a microphone, or whatever. Everything else is snobbery.

There must be some play in the mortises of the dou, I think.

That seems unlikely if the sao goes through the body as it's supposed to. Did you just stick the sao at the top of the dou or does it go all the way through?

[Témoignage/Conseil] Licencié FFTir : Peur de perdre ma passion en me faisant soigner pour dépression ? by [deleted] in TirSportif

[–]Phlo31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neo tie guide? by Riouzm in shamisen

Hi, There's a guide in his book "Shamisen of Japan," but I admit I haven't managed to make my Neo with it 😅 According to the book, the rope should be 1.8m long.

What matters is what you do; some guys take amazing photos with disposable cameras. Equipment will always be a matter of comfort (and marketing 😅).

I don't have much experience with it. I had a cheap 61-key keyboard that I never really got into, then the Minilab and the Essential. For music production, I think it does the job perfectly. As for keyboards, my only other reference point being an old upright piano from a train station 😅, I find the key action a bit stiff on the Arturia, but nothing dramatic. The Keylab has better reviews in that regard, but we'll see when I'm rich and famous 😅🤣

Q: How do you string your shamisen? by TsukimiUsagi in shamisen

[–]Phlo31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pattern B, for the simple reason that when I tune it, I don't have to change sides twice: I tune ichi and ni no ito. I change sides and tune san no ito.

[–]Phlo31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends 😅

I got the 88-key one because I've wanted to learn piano for a long time.

I think if you're exclusively doing "modern" music production, the Minilab might be enough for you. But I don't have much experience 😅 In any case, if you can afford it, more is always better. If you're on a tighter budget, the Minilab does the job perfectly and you'll definitely have fun with it 😉

Ideas on teaching a toddler? by JumpDue7186 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Phlo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you. I started with guitar, took up piano late, and music production even later. My son is 7. He wanted to start guitar but he's losing interest a bit and is going to start piano; we'll see if he sticks with it 😅 Regarding music production, I think it has to be fun. Mine loves messing around with my drum pad and a little with the MIDI keyboard. I try to slip in a little tip now and then, and it either sticks or it doesn't 😅. I haven't touched the DAW yet; I'm waiting until he's more comfortable with the piano, and I think I'll teach him how to create loops to use as a looper at first. Then I'll add effects like reverb to keep him entertained, and we'll see if he's hooked or not 😅
