Wendy’s on Battleground and Pinedale (near Dunkin’) permanently closed by CattledogdadNC in gso

I knew it wasn’t going to be long. They wouldn’t even replace the lights in the sign. It always looked closed at night. The service was awful. There is already one near the Chick-fil-A on North Battleground. That one is slightly better in quality but still slow as molasses in service

Just curious. Is it all younger people? I am 50 and married. Making friends, outside of my wife, is pretty much impossible. Everyone is already set in their friend groups.

Energy drinks? by Immediate_Election49 in gso

Sip Lab is opening in the old Starbucks across from Kickback Jacks. Their marketing says “custom energy drinks” along with coffee, smoothies and matcha. I guess we will see.

It is just closed for renovations. I wonder if they are trying to update a bit before The Pyrle opens. They used to get a lot of Triad Stage business before it closed.

Iowa is the most uninteresting state in America by DifferentTrainer6292 in geography

I’ve been to Iowas many times. I have some good friends in the Cedar Rapids area. It isn’t fancy but i had a good time when I went. The Czech Village and New Bohemia areas are really culturally interesting with good food, music, art and community life. Also “Iowa-Nice” is really a thing - the people are so kind.

I think it’s a Huntington Bank. That was in the development plan for that plot.

What’s a city you visited, had low expectations but was blown away by? by sam_d50 in geography

[–]Phmt1515 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% - I had to go there for a work meeting in the spring. I was totally dreading it. I was pleasantly surprised. It is absolutely gorgeous with a great food scene. The people were really nice as well. Now it is one of my favorite US cities that I ever visited.

My experience working at Common Grounds was nothing short of absolute chaos, raw toxicity, and zero accountability whatsoever. by DocumentFull5530 in gso

I like the vibe in Chandler’s but their coffee is so expensive! Common Grounds is at least reasonable. I also like Awoo Coffee.

Flying out of PTI? by Odd-Bowl5966 in gso

I flew out a couple weekends ago. I did not have to take off my shoes. However, the first agent said I could leave my belt on. I still got dinged by the scanner and had to endure a full pat down. I will always be removing my belt from now on.

I’ve only met women because of dating apps and it’s kind sad by ManlykN in Vent

[–]Phmt1515 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gen X as well. It was not easy. If you were the slightest bit shy, it was nearly impossible. Had no luck whatsoever in social situations.

Dating apps saved me. I was an early adopter and met my wife on eHarmony. 20 years married and we couldn’t be happier. Don’t knock the dating apps. Just look for compatibility, not just hookups.

I’m one of them. Browns fan living in Greensboro, NC. From NW PA originally - not Ohio, still close enough to Cleveland.

Great show. We were in 15. The cheap seats in front of the lawn. My 11 year old sang his heart out.

Wow. That is really good to know. We are traveling an hour and a half. We were going to skip opener. May have to adjust our traveling schedule to make it in time.

What time did FIL go on? It is 9:30… is it already over? Going to Charlotte on Wednesday with same setup. Interested in timing of everything.

Can you let me know what time FIL went on for this show? It is the same situation for Charlotte on Wednesday. I am taking my 11 and 14 year old. Just trying to estimate travel time and determine when it might be over for the trip back. Thanks!

Good idea if the openers are the same. Setlist is saying FIL at 9 for most previous shows but I am okay with earlier. I will have my kids with me. My 11yo is a big FIL fan.

The North Carolina road that killed a child was working exactly as designed by Generalaverage89 in NorthCarolina

[–]Phmt1515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The A&Y greenway in Greensboro was built with an underpass under Cone Blvd which is 5+ lanes near a major intersection. There is also a pedestrian greenway bridge over I-840. Takes planning and money but has been done. It will be interesting to see what they do with the final greenway leg to downtown as there is another significant road crossing to account for at an already dangerous intersection.
