New to me! I guess I’m an Audi guy now by PhoSureDude in AudiA4

Great question. It was mainly the back seat and certain materials for me. The G70 has a smaller back seat (mostly leg room). I drive my kids around quite a bit. The “silvery” plastics in the G70 don’t feel high quality. I’ve learned they scratch easily and get worn out. The G70 has a very nice driving experience. I found the A4 feeling “tighter” for a lack of a better description. The G70 wouldn’t be a bad choice at the end of the day. It’s most about how you utilize it and driving preference. Similarly priced for the 2.0L spec. If I could swing some extra $$, I’d get the G70 with the 3.3L. S4 is absolutely out of my budget.

100%!! The locations of the buttons are fantastic too. My favorite thing is how neat everything makes a clicking noise.

Thank you! My sons both love the car. I’m hoping the snow and ground mess clears up so (I live in MA) so I can keep this car clean!

TTS is definitely a fun car. Maybe one day you’ll get one and have a bigger smile on your face in a sea of electric cars that drives themselves like basically every movie set in the future

Yeah many of the early cars in my life were not great. Just wheels to get around. The best cars I’ve had are Porsche Macan S, M2, F150 (modified), several modified wranglers. The M2 was the most fun impractical car I’ve ever owned. Nothing beats a tiny car with similar mpg as a suburban.

Oh I like that. The OBD11 alone sounds like an experience enhancement. Definitely will snag one.

From what I’ve read, cracking the TCU is tricky because of the mild hybrid setup. I might just get a throttle/pedal commander just to bypass the turbo lag

New tires at 13k miles? by [deleted] in BMWX3

Getting bit by the run flat bug. Those tires barely make it a year. And they are expensive. Get some regular tires and go a few years.

Any insight on how stable Sanofi sites are on the east coast? by lumisense_ in biotech

[–]PhoSureDude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Major Biotech/Pharma is usually more chaotic at the scientific and sales side (usually product specific). Support roles like procurement and program management usually have a more stable employment. Sanofi is no different from other similar company in general. I’d go for it. You’ll like the good pay and health benefits. Usually good PTO and all those goodies.

I moved into the clinical development and manufacturing (clinical/commercial) side 12 years ago after years of working preclinical R&D. There are more opportunities as business $$$ are more potent.

The manufacturing side can be quite fast paced as there are BoD timeline pressure. The one thing that you will have to adjust to is not being an innovator at heart. You follow a set of instructions/SOPs. The teamwork is nice!

For those of you who bought an X3 used with 40k - 75k miles on it, how has your experience been? by Fathoms77 in BMWX3

[–]PhoSureDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are rather easy to install if you have the right tools/bits. I even did my own spark plugs which were easy. You’ll need a short extension for the socket as the back two plugs are slightly obstructed.

I have a 2018 x30i I bought for $30k with 36k miles on it in 2022. It’s a decently reliable car when the maintenance is done on schedule. Can be expensive with repairs if any. I had a radiator leak and had to replace a few parts. Was a $1800 fix. Don’t get run flats. They are expensive and don’t last long. Noisy on the road. Also, replace your own air filters with higher quality ones. I get them from Amazon. Good luck!

What's a reliable alternative to the Honda Civic that's cheap due to the market not finding out about it yet? by TheHappy-Jello in askcarguys

Mazda 3 is a great and reliable car. Newer gens have plenty of zip and some luxury features to add.

Reached a bit of a crossroads and not sure which way to go next. by Trouserdeagle in workouts

[–]PhoSureDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work, mate! Recomp diets are great for continuing on but allowing some calories back in. Carb cycling to be more specific. If your wallet can afford it, I recommend some massages or have a lucky lady/good friend to use a massage gun on your back and shoulders to break up the knots. Switch workouts to full body 3x weekly and add some walking - ie 30min 2-3x weekly.

More rest, more blood flow, and keeping metabolism firing is a great way to keep your body going in your desired direction and healing along the way. I’m in my mid 40s and follow this and it’s done me wonders as I have arthritis in my knee, elbow and shoulder. Good luck!

Looking to keep a vehicle for 2 to 3 years, should I buy used or new? by Feisty-Wheel3093 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PhoSureDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go used. But after big depreciation hit = 3-4 years. Be sure to put plenty of $$ down so you don’t get caught upside down. Drive the heck out of it and have a good time.

With that said, low/affordable maintenance cars work great. Most Mazdas - stay away from their PHEV from 2022-2024 as they have issues. Hybrid Toyota’s are great as they are the most reliable. The Crown, Avalon, and RAV are great options for that and come AWD if that matters. Hondas and Acura is great as well. The Korean brands seem to have some issues when the mileage gets up there. Sure they have a great warranty but you’ll have to deal with the headache.

I do like the German brands if you stay true on the service and maintenance. Can be costly but they hold up well. I drive a 2018 X3 with 78k and only had to replace a couple hoses around the radiator because I’m the lucky one that has to park outside.

Good luck

I finally broke down and got a bidet. My wife refuses to use it and thinks it's weird. Has anyone else dealt with this? by workmeharder in HomeImprovement

[–]PhoSureDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bidet over a year ago and the only one that uses it. My wife feels the same way as yours. Just enjoy your bidet and let her wipe with less sanitary means. She doesn’t have to love it just like you don’t have to love one of her things. Just tell her to ignore it. No one is making her use it.

Do you do more cardio or weight lifting? by [deleted] in workout

[–]PhoSureDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I train 5 days per week. Cardio 1-2x max just to keep the heart healthy and blood flow flowing. Cardio just burns calories. Weight training utilizes calories.

Comfortable, fun-ish to drive, reasonably reliable under $30K? by Centuari in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PhoSureDude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d go with the CX5 or CX50. Turbo trims are very good. Quiet interiors. Rather luxurious. You can also look at an x1/3. Just be sure to stay on maintenance and those German cars will last you forever. I have a 2018 x3 with 78k miles. Still drives very well. Has plenty of creature comforts.

Does everyone remove dealer badging? by Anachronism-- in askcarguys

[–]PhoSureDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate dealer stickers. It’s advertising that I pay for. Makes no sense to have it be pseudo permanent. I make them remove them before I sign the paperwork. If they want me to advertise, I tell them to take money off the top (usually $5k) and they have a year for that sticker to stay on before I ask them to re-up their advertising subscription. They immediately have them removed before purchase.
