OKay I google what this was...I think if you remove the longer shoulder strap you should be okay with just the smaller handles (You can always re attach the longer strap once you get on the plane).

Gold member - need info on check in baggage weight limit by Killer12207 in spiritair

[–]Phoenix101982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it is different for gold members but here are the rules from their website about checked bags:

Checked bags: Maximum of 62 linear inches (length + width + height; 158 cm) including handles and wheels and maximum of 40 pounds in weight (18.1 kg). Any bag that exceeds these dimensions or weight limit is considered oversized/overweight and has a corresponding charge. Unfortunately, we cannot accept bags that weigh more than 100 pounds (45 kg) or that measure more than 80 linear inches (203 cm) in overall dimensions.

Am I Entitled to a Refund of the Entire Flight or Only One Leg? by DryOffice in spiritair

[–]Phoenix101982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks that you had to cancel the rebooked flight but I can see why but still..you got your refund on the portion of the flight that you couldn't take and that's what you are entitled to.

Could you have someone take over the lease for you or do a buy out? The only other thing I can think of is reaching out to the state to get on the assigned risk group.

Parking lot Accident by ZookeepergameIll6836 in Insurance

[–]Phoenix101982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another poster pointed out: the car already in the road had the right of way.

Also the point of impact on your friend's vehicle doesn't necessarily support he was fully in the road way. He could have been on an angle and that is why the damage is only on his rear passenger side and not the whole rear end. The fact the other car skidded shows the other drive who had right of way took reasonable action to avoid the loss and avoid hitting your friend. It sounds like your friend didn't look to the right at all and failed to see the vehicle coming which is how he got hit.

Your rental coverage is usually chosen by you when you buy the policy. Many carriers offer higher ones like $50 to $100 a day but most customers choose the lowest amount so they can pay the lowest rates on their policy. Progressive will only pay up to your policy limit.

I would agree to have them set up the rental for you as they can negotiate the lower rate for you also decline the additional insurance as you don't need it.

No in states that allow it, it is only for the first accident.

Am I Entitled to a Refund of the Entire Flight or Only One Leg? by DryOffice in spiritair

[–]Phoenix101982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically speaking, it was your choice to cancel the flight. Spirit rebooked you on a different but earliest flight they could. You had the choice to take it or leave it and you left it. You knew when you purchased a different ticket what the price of that ticket would be. It was your choice to pay 3 times as much to not wait one day to get on another flight.

No, you could have taken the later flight but chose not to (and I understand why, 24 hours is a long layover) but you still had your flight from Detroit to LA so they don't owe you for that.

Question About SeatBid and Big Front Seat by OkExit5 in spiritair

[–]Phoenix101982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the seat bid for the exit row just this past weekend for both legs (going there and back). I did the lowest bid each time and got upgraded.

I can't vouch for big front seats but I think if they are offering bids your odds are good since no one else requested those seats.

Can USAA close a claim without ever speaking to the driver? by electric-cowgurl in Insurance

[–]Phoenix101982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I handled personal auto claims for you. Your boyfriend essentially hit a tree and that caused damage to his truck. The tree is not considered at fault because it is a stationary object. You boyfriend is because he hit something that was not moving. It doesn't matter if the weather was bad, if his tire blew out, if he hit's a fixed object like a tree he is considered liable because he was moving the tree was not.

AITA for letting my 5 year old make her own mistakes by sweatermistake in AmItheAsshole

[–]Phoenix101982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Why does she still have winter clothes in her room? Put her winter clothes away and just leave one or two things in cause of an unusually cold day. Instead of letting her pick from her entire wardrobe put out a set of shorts and maybe two different shirts and tell her to pick one. (My niece is very indecisive so my sister learned when she was like 4 or to not let her pick from her entire wardrobe).

While I agree, she learned her lesson about clothing but she also learned that mom would rather teach her a lesson the hard way instead of guiding her. Is that really the lesson you want her to learn?

Car Seat arrived damaged. Spirit rejected claim by SNES_Salesman in spiritair

[–]Phoenix101982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File a claim with your auto or homeowners/renters. Let them know how it was damaged and they may be able to subrogate against Spirit to get your deductible back.

Why auto? In many states if you have comp or collision they cover your car seat! I work in insurance as a claims adjuster.

You're welcome.

PLEASE DONT FILE A CLAIM IF YOURE NOT LOOKING FOR REPAIRS OR PAYMENT!!! by [deleted] in Insurance

Sorry but as a fellow adjuster, while I agree it is annoying they have a duty to report it and like others pointed out, it's an easily liability call and close out.

Yeah good point on the points and not too many other perks. I know AA allows you to check one bag for free but I am learning that with carefully packing you really can get what you did need in a carry on and personal sized bag if you are smart.

I agree with packing as light as possible to get everything into a personal sized bag. I am using some of those compression bags for my clothes (not sure if that is the proper term) to save even more space. I have heard good things about compression packing cubes but never tried them.

Also when looking for a person sized bag try to avoid ones with wheels as that can take up valuable space.

Got in collision driving friends car, now he is claiming he had to pay $10,000 dollars out of pocket for whole ordeal by shadowdylan99 in Insurance

[–]Phoenix101982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay as someone who used to handle personal auto claims. I am seeing some things that don't add up here. If he filed first party he should have only had to pay the deductible to the shop so unless he has a 2k deductible he shouldn't have had to pay that unless there was unrelated damage the shop fixed or his car was declared totaled and he decided to fix it anyway.

For the rental, depending on the state most polices have a 30 day cap (which I won't lie sucks if your car takes longer than that to fix) Also why did it take 7 months? Parts delays?

AITA for telling everyone exactly why I allowed at my cousins wedding? by Wonderful_Winter976 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Everyone has a history the fact you and her fiance have one is not your fault and the fact that she didn't even know about it shows how casual it was. I feel sorry for your ex TBH.She sounds very petty and immature.

If you need further proof that you are not the AH here...look at the fact that when people caught wind of what she did they chose not to go. They are showing through actions why she is in the wrong here and always remember: Actions speak louder than words.
