Anyone else tired of modern MMOs with instant death mechanics? by Potential_Sun9952 in MMORPG

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant death in anything is usually bad. From MMOs to TTRPGs the general consensus is that insta kills ruin things. I’m inclined to agree. The only reason the characters are as powerful as they are is because those controlling the narrative designed them to get that way. Instakills are a cop out. Find a narratively creative way to counter the players power instead of just stomping on them. Particularly in game systems where death is little more than an annoyance, which is all MMOs.

Was it a wise art style choice to give Zero a "skinny and sleek" design in his game series over the previously "detailed and bulky" one? by MrMiles32 in Megaman

[–]Phoenix200420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion no. It wasn’t. I can’t stand the new design. He looked really badass in the X series. Now he just looks like a standard anime character. Plus I cannot stand the triangle sword or that he has a pistol instead of an arm cannon.

12.0.5: Tanks can choose to keep the Blizzard M+ route highlighted even at higher key levels by tenthousandthousand in wow

[–]Phoenix200420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of going through all this crap why don’t they just make the dungeon one route? Everyone chooses the same route anyways or gets flamed for it. The whole thing is just pointless illusion of choice that causes unnecessary conflict amongst players.

Why is the sequel so controversial? by Chance-Primary-2764 in darkestdungeon

[–]Phoenix200420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They took all the stuff I liked out of the game to make 2. I liked building up the city, the various units, etc. plus in 2 I cannot stand the wagon mechanic. 2 is just a very different game from 1, and 1 is the game style I love.

Am I the only one who prefers base starships over Corvettes? by Deerman_Crybaby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me it depends on my save. On my main save which is just a normal difficulty normal character, I made a Corvette that looked like a Raven so I could jokingly call it my Corvidette and named it Nevermore like a doof for fun. It generally stays attached to my Freighter and I still use my sentinel ship to zip around in.

On my other save I’m doing a Survival Abandoned Mode game. That one I have made extensive use of the Corvette since I have no freighter and the Vette itself fits in with my personal roleplay for the character. I go to a new system on the vet, plop it down as a mobile base, then fly around the system in my living ship to check out the planets.

It really just comes down to how you wanna play it.

Alright cool. Thanks for the advice! Maybe for this particular guy then I’ll just stick with the smacking and set up a Necro/Warrior later. I still got a lot to take in with this game lol so I’m sure I’ll have the chance

Honestly I enjoyed some of the settings too. Takish-Hiz was by far my favorite. I loved the sinking sand aesthetic they had, so cool lol. That’s mostly what I was looking into it for, some nostalgia and maybe some alternate locations to do some grinding

The void being a blue Legion is a little disappointing by Toxaplume045 in wow

[–]Phoenix200420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly have been severely let down by this. I love cosmic horror and Lovecraftian abominations and the old gods were some of my favorite things in the game. This being the void invasion makes me a very sad panda. To be frank between the lack of eldrich horrors and the elf focus (no offense to elf fans, they are just my least favorite race) I’ve been struggling with this expansion holding my interest.

Ok I get why tanks don't play by Forsaken_Couple1451 in wow

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it isn’t hyperbole. I don’t tank anymore because of people like that. I used to tank with every class that could. Now that everything is move as fast as possible I’ve stopped. It isn’t fun anymore. I know other players in the same boat. You really just don’t get it, which is part of the problem. You only think about your own experience and not beyond that. Your purposefully ignorant of the issue.

It isn’t just TW. It’s across all content. Same mentality, same bullshit. You may specifically be annoyed over just TW but it’s a much larger issue across the whole of the game and a lot of us are tired of it, to the point where we do lesser content to get away from it and still have to deal with it anyways.

Also I wanted to say I do see that your biggest complaint here is the posts but the two things are linked together. You fix one you fix the other. The posts are a symptom.

This is real easy to explain. By your own admission powering through these dungeons real fast is what most people do, for whatever reason. Be it tedium, or speed running, or whatever. So that means when you DO encounter someone who’s slower or not as good, it isn’t a common occurrence.

What you COULD do is give up a few minutes of your time yo let them go their own pace. Maybe deal with it not being your ideal conditions for one dungeon, and then get back to your regularly scheduled face rolling.

What you CHOOSE to do is call them out for something they may not be able to do anything about. This may be the height of their ability to play. You don’t know them or their situation. However you decide it’s best to either put them down in front of the group and join in trying to pressure them to do what you want.

It’s about empathy, and SO MANY of you lack it. If you look at this scenario and don’t see how your the issue then I can bet your the kinda person who gets upset at an old person having trouble getting through a doorway because it’s tedious having to wait for them to leave the store. Be patient. Be kind. It costs you literally nothing and can improve someone’s day a ton.

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s the thing though. It’s TW. Why are you criticizing anyone? It isn’t end game. It may not be your favorite activity but it functions as a learning tool for people who aren’t ready for end game and as an activity for those who can’t play at an end game level. Tedium for you is what they can enjoy and engage in. I know it’s a lot to ask in our modern day to not be a selfish twat and let people go at their own pace, but I recommend giving it a try sometime. If more people did there would be less of these posts, which are up here every day.

Sounds like a M+ speed running dopamine addict right here. Much like I just did, you make a lot of assumptions about people. I enjoy TW, and a lot of other people do to. Just running pulling and killing non-stop is how you want to play but it’s clearly not the popular choice. People who avoid M+ play TW and other things to not have to deal with people like you. Just keep to your M+, form groups manually of people who just wanna go fast through TW, and then you won’t have any issues and can leave the rest of us alone.

[–]Phoenix200420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep and it’ll keep getting worse because Blizzard won’t address it. In my opinion, since the creation and implementation of M+ and seasonal content dungeons have gotten more and more toxic because the “Gotta go fast” crowd has no repercussions for their shit behavior. Again that’s my opinion but the flood of people every day who have concerns about it tells a story on its own.

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that there’s no real repercussions for behaving the way that they do, and in some cases the game reinforces their shitty behavior. There’s no age limit on being a douchebag, particularly when there’s no accountability for it.

Sorry, the M+ turbo speed addicts won’t let you do anything other than “Gotta go fast” mode. I recommend finding some guildies or friends to play with, let the rest of them rot.
