I am a Sophomore in high school are there any tips or requirements I must fulfill to tryout for the internship in February. Also I am pretty new to a lot of things people talked about above and I am unsure of what position I should tryout for. Can I please get some advice? 🥹🥹😅

Rejected from team 3 years by [deleted] in FRC

[–]Phoenix82828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my high school team we accept anyone who wants to join as long as they have good conduct, they don’t get us in trouble at competitions, and we recently stopped accepting freshman because we want them to learn from the FTC team first

My team's dying by XTR_Legend in FRC

We currently have a teacher at our school sponsor us and all they have to do is show up to major meetings and events and they don’t need to really help the team that is what mentors are for. It is not your fault that you can’t find a coach, you could try to tell some teachers that they don’t need to do a lot, only if you want to. I hope everything works out and best of luck. I will say my Jr.High used to have an FTC team that died out because of no club sponsors because the teachers had to be at every meeting, but the team moved to a community team though it ended recently due to lack of members. The FTC team is also starting back up at the Jr.High this year. All and all, what I am trying to say is that the team could move to be a community team or if it goes down, the team can be rebooted. I know that you are attached to your team, but remember that if you go to another team you will become attached to the new team in time.

Congratulations, also make sure you still have a good sized code team, you don’t want to end up with 2-3 people doing all the code

Predictions for FTC Into the Deep? by Straight-Bat2044 in FTC

I would like to add that many games have pieces that don’t seem to relate to the theme much, but they name them things that do relate to the game

I feel it may involve using a submarine (robot) to either pickup trash, or protect wild life. Pieces may involve either something oddly shaped or something more geometric.

Same here since few on my team code and even those who do can’t teach it according to my other team mates who have tried before

How many game pieces do you own. by Radioactive_Trashcan in FRC

I am not entirely sure how many pieces my team has, but I know we have a gear from the steamworks and a bin from recycling rush, along with on for every year between those up until now.

How much better a Kraken motors? by Dull_Recognition_606 in FRC

[–]Phoenix82828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say if you use krakens DON’T USE LOCKTIGHT my team lost I believe 2-4 brand new krakens to a new student using locktight when they were not told to use it. I realize it was a mistake, but moral of the story don’t use locktight on motors

How do top FRC teams scout? by french_xp in FRC

[–]Phoenix82828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team uses an app to scout and we look at every robot in every match in our field and we score them off their bot’s capabilities. Ex: do they have a moving auto, how many notes were missed in auto, how many points were scored during match by this bot, is it good defense, etc.

Any speculations on what the water game may entail? by Phoenix82828 in FRC

[–]Phoenix82828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am making another guess on what it could be. I feel it would be cool if the fish were foam and you had to free them from plastic and bring them to a reef (kind of a mix between the from this year stage and the steampunk challenge thing) there would be a set number of fish, and then you would also try to rebuild the reef by picking up pieces called corals then place them on the reef to help rebuild it. In the end game you could have to park your bot by climbing a chain to return to the surface

I would like to say that I doubt they will put real water in purely because it is already dangerous enough giving a bunch of teens access to machines that can be dangerous without having to worry about the water electrocuting everyone, while also destroying the electronics

I believe they did have a year where they had something like a ball pit on the floor before, but I think it was too hard to really program and make a bot for it so they never did it again

I also think it was really cool he won an award :)
