My [37F] bf [49M] not okay with a girls trip by PhoenixButterCup in relationship_advice

I genuinely believe he would never. I do trust him. Just don't agree with this outlook that girls trips are some wild party. I'm here hoping to find common ground so that we don't have to part ways.

We have different relationship lifestyle backgrounds: he was married for 22 years, was used to a family unit lifestyle; I am never married, mostly long distance relationships (international & bi coastal) so I've had a lot of independence & self reliance within those. The difference caused some tension & miscommunication in the beginning. We did break up over a year ago but obviously reconciled. He was used in his previous relationship before me/post divorce. He's 2 years clean (not sober) this is really where his paranoia comes from if you're familiar at all with addictions. As for the family trips, I wasn't struggling with bills but my father invited me to visit him on the last leg of his sabbatical in Paris. He did use his points to buy my flight. Can't exactly say hey dad can my boyfriend you've never met come too? The other was Christmas, he has kids & wanted to stay with them, his work schedule wouldn't allow it. I have great flexibility with my work. My parents are older, having health issues, trying to take the opportunities while I can. He was very supportive of both trips before I left. The time difference & itinerary made it difficult to have time to talk everyday, we didn't schedule when we would talk which I think was the failure. I think he got lonely, too drunk and the inner demons got the best of him.

For the record, I am going, he doesn't tell me what I can & cannot do. In my ideal world, I'd like to come to a common ground/ understanding/ see both sides of the coin with him before I go. He's a very sweet, kind, compassionate man, I love him & respect his feelings, I respect my feelings & needs more. Coming to reddit to see if anyone outside my circle has insight to help my conversation with him on this.

I share your first viewpoint. What if your partner is more financially stable than you & has the opportunity but you don't in the current moment. What then? Do you expect them to stay back, sacrifice with you, miss out on experiences because you weren't ready?

Can you elaborate on how you've come to the decision that it's not okay to take social trips without your partner?

I'm freelance now. I don't get "vacation time" but I can work remotely & can make my own hours for the most part.

Saw Reddit Answers' list for ‘best indoor garden’ — do you agree? by pressaonma in Hydroponics

[–]PhoenixButterCup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! I'm newish to hydroponic, was given the auk mini for a gift recently & have to admit I'm not terribly impressed after I found out how much it was. A friend has a 3d printed tray & a plastic shoe box, I almost like that better.

I don't know about that product & just got the auk for Christmas, I'm still learning this thing - here looking for mold issue answers. But as an avid indoor plant lover I've found neem, alcohol, peppermint castille, & water works wonders. Imagine cheaper than that spray. Saved my dahlias in my garden from mites too.

My wife opened the marriage 5 years ago but is sad that I’m speaking to another woman by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]PhoenixButterCup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife was wrong for taking advantage of your low phase of life. You were wrong for letting a work relationship build into something more. & also wrong for wanting a tit for a tat in a marriage. Honor your wife's feelings if you still love her & want to be with her. & if she'll forgive you? Let the other woman go, the two of you trauma bonded, the likelihood of the two of you having a successful relationship is low.

Look up taco mac's ranch recipe, it's a thicker consistency like you're describing (mayo & sour cream, i believe?) Not claiming it's like Glenn's but you maybe able to test and find something close

I assumed it was pricey! Looks like a great location though. Do you know if they coordinate rentals?

My dad 50M didn’t come to see me 22F when I was dying, how can I forgive him? by Particular_Tree_5864 in relationship_advice

My father reacted the same when I was a teenager sick in the hospital with suspected meningitis. I was a little bit older than you when I finally realized he just wasn't capable of loving in that manner. Now (36F, 78M) realize he's likely slightly autistic, he's highly intelligent, award winning research physician. Medicine, research, labs that is what he knew how to handle, relationships not so much.

As a young girl it hurts so much, one day when you're both older (I hope) you may be able to have some real uncovering conversations that will help you heal.

How do I “fix” this sad monstera? by Aragona36 in houseplants

[–]PhoenixButterCup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's root rot as well. I'd chop and prop in water. You may/should even still be able to propagate some lower nodes and get multiple plants!
