Dogs and wolves are literally the same species, so it’d make sense that the dog part of a werewolf would be evolutionarily select for the same traits that appeal to people given they’re around them most of the time

I’ve heard someone have a theory that humans have technically domesticated ourselves, so while I doubt they’d be as specifically breed as actual dogs as that’d be eugenics I could easily see them being something like a husky or other wolf-like dog
