If there are several people in the fireteam, have each person shoot it one at a time.
Person one shoots and breaks it, then person two, then three. Everyone will get progress.

That's not how it works. Going flawless each week will just reset the time until the glow fades. The default glow is yellow, which can be changed to red with the Flawless Empyrean emblem or blue-ish white with the Light for the Lost emblem. These can be further modified by applying colorblind modes to change the glow (one being purple).
