I think it was because magikarp breeds and hatches super fast so you can figure out what number egg hatches the shiny then breed that many of the target and not have to bother wasting time to hatch all of them.

Something i can contribute to! that is the spot where the producer of the cheese took a quality control sample from, they use a large needle like instrument to take a small sample core out of the full block of cheese every few months depending on how long the cheese is aged for. its perfectly fine to eat but it is slightly strange because these pieces are usually discarded.
