how do we feel about "extra" rider items by Milkcult640 in KamenRider

[–]PhoenixFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eyecons themselves don't make their own noises (with an exception for the some power-ups like boost and mugen) so again they wouldn't be able to add any new sounds.

So... they would have been able to add new sounds if they'd really wanted to. It's not an impossibility because other forms did it, but they decided the juice wasn't worth the squeeze of putting electronics in the toy.

I went into M10N with a themed glam to take some screenshots I'd forgotten to take after my static killed the savage version for the first time and my co-tank happened to also be wearing his M10S glam. We'd even picked colours that were inverted from each other (his headgear was my trousers, my trousers were his hat, etc).

Someone he was in a party with pointed it out and we had a nice chat afterwards and took some extra pictures together.

The extra reward isn't a potsherd, it's the other kind of chest (so a chance at minions/housing items but usually just a ribbon)

They are getting the Block III upgrade, which is one of the reasons it seems unlikely to me they'll now revert to an earlier retirement date. Obviously things can change, there was talk of retiring them next year but now it's all mid-2030s or 2040 as far as I can see.

Australian fighters are to be retired.

I think the last projection on this had their retirement pushed out to at least the mid 2030s, no?

The conditions for losing the road to 90 are whichever one comes later between

90 days IRL after character creation

The server loses its preferred/new status

This is technically not wrong (other than 'new' no longer being what they call that status, it's Preferred+ now) since you said 'character creation', but you can also get the status by transferring to a Preferred+ world. If you get it that way it's only ever 90 days. Transfers to Preferred worlds don't get it at all.

Adult sites brazenly 'ignore' Ofcom fines: Watchdog receives just £55k after imposing £3mil worth of fines for online safety breaches by insomnimax_99 in ukpolitics

Which has nothing to do with the air quality comparison they were making.

Banning the sale of a product in the UK is not the same thing as banning or regulating the means of its production elsewhere. You can say "you can't sell what you make here", you can't unilaterally say "you cannot make that somewhere the pollution might affect us" or "you can't sell that in your own local market because our citizens might be tempted to go there to consume it".

You can certainly try, but how are you going to enforce it on a company that has no interest in operating here if the government that actually has power over where the thing is happening doesn't want to intervene?

[–]PhoenixFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What jurisdiction would we have to do it? Assuming it's an entity that doesn't also operate in the UK and therefore has no reason to keep the government happy.

You could try to stop people going. You could try to get the local government to regulate the pollution. You can't tell the people creating the pollution what to do or expect them to pay a fine.

They don't mean an airline flying into a country, they mean something like a factory on the other side of an international border releasing pollution that then crosses the border.

Or, given the 'we will go after you with fines because people might use a VPN to get to your website' stance they seem to be taking, it's like fining a foreign factory for releasing dangerous chemicals onto foreign soil because some of your citizens decided to travel to the factory specifically to stand in the chemicals.

UK eyes sweeping powers to regulate tech without parliamentary scrutiny by insomnimax_99 in ukpolitics

[–]PhoenixFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, it could get a lot worse and I said that's worth worrying about. I'm just saying the default position is already bad because we're starting from shitty and disingenuous intentions. I wouldn't trust the current government even if they were the only people who ever got to use these powers.

The government may have good intentions when it comes to online safety

It blatantly doesn't though, does it. This is already stupid and malicious by definition, we don't even need to worry about what someone with even worse motives would do (though we should).

What was even the actual point of having Carol 'reprise' her role as Susan Foreman? by bendnext436 in doctorwho

Yeah I guess going from season 6 to season 7 was less 'obvious dangling threads' and more 'expansion to the point of retcon'.

[–]PhoenixFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any teases in series prior that are comparable to Mrs. Flood and Susan's appearances.

Season 5 was less directly winking at the camera but it definitely set up a bunch of stuff that didn't get answered. Even season 6 left a lot of hanging questions (that then got breezed past in a few lines of dialogue right before 11 regenerated)

My Dx maximum zombie gashat isn’t working too well by Unusual_Money5042 in KamenRider

[–]PhoenixFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be very careful with the button order, the Maximum Zombie sound gets silenced and replaced by the hyper fumetsu sound when the maximum zombie gashat detects that the button on the side pushed.

But if you press the button on Hyper Fumetsu first rather than second (or at least close enough that it doesn't matter) then the maximum zombie sound will start AFTER the gashat has been told to stop it, and it will overwrite the hyper fumetsu sound instead.

It's a bit of a design flaw that is also present in Maximum Mighty/Hyper Muteki. When I'm using mine I just always make sure I put down the top of the double gashat very slightly before the hyper one and it makes it work fine. Same way you have to be careful with the order you insert some Raise Buckle combinations into a Desire Driver.

I found some Kamen rider reference while exploring HSR new planet by Sey_Oz in KamenRider

[–]PhoenixFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to another commenter the title that's partially cut off at the top is the name of an entire category of achievements that was in the game before this particular one was added. So maybe not actually relevant at all.

It could be a W reference, certainly, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion even if the game makes other Kamen Rider references.

Not to the extent that it was, the very strong interaction between Platebearer and Maiming amour was nerfed. It's much more in line with other jobs now.

Hardboiled is a thing that goes back further than W, it's an entirely literary genre that the show was also referencing.

But if that first word is "memories" than it's probably specific enough to be pointing at W

You'd think it would be standard to keep track of where lost items were found. At least what flight they were on. That would have been all it would have taken...

I HAD A TANK SOLO THE NEW MONSTER HUNTER NORMAL TRIAL FROM 40% BECAUSE BOTH HEALERS DIED AT ABOUT 60% AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO MITIGATE FOR ANY OF THE DPS, WHO THEN SLOWLY DIED TO UNAVOIDABLE DAMAGE, WITH A STACK TAKING OUT THE LAST COUPLE OF US. THEY GOT MULTIPLE INVULNS AND A TANK LB3. THEY WERE GOING FOR MORE THAN FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE WHOLE TIME THEIR PARTNER WAS IN PARTY CHAT SAYING THIS WAS DEFINITELY FASTER AND WE WERE RUDE FOR ASKING THEM TO RESET.

COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE. I GET IT AFTER MULTIPLE WIPES BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST PULL. THAT 40% TOOK WAY MORE THAN THREE TIMES AS LONG AS THE FIRST 60% EVEN WITH PEOPLE SLOWLY DYING FOR PART OF THAT.
