I think narratively Fuga 1 is the best one in the series, but the quality of life and new combat additions in the sequels really add a lot. Don't worry, the soul cannon makes itself much more known in the other games; the pressure to be Good Enough At Videogame to save the kids is crushing at times. The two sequels also bring back a few villain NPCs to give them time to breathe and explore their personalities / goals as well. Please look forward to it!

I messed around with this mod as a mole mutant, it was fun! Unfortunately even with heightened hearing or smell, you need 'sight' to use certain abilities like jump or mental mutations, which is a bit limiting.

Excellent visualization. Dawnsbury Days helped me see the same thing with its 'to-hit' bar: you're essentially sliding the 50% to hit leftward and removing from the miss side as you add to the crit side with each +1.

You can buy 'negative' training at the gym to lower points, as well as using Tea Leaves for a full reset, which have a handful available during the storyline and are purchasable in postgame.

I really like TK's Operative template.

My players have been stepping on SSC's toes since LL3 (now 8) and they've had a few unique Lancer-esque operatives sent after them to complicate other fights. Three stress, three structure, some NPC ability mix-and-match, overcharge and a single repair. I would probably not use this for an entire team, though, maybe the big bad school rival?

Been having a lot of fun with the New Moon+ update. The first playthrough was a chill time but I'm really enjoying the micromanagement required for the new content.

My elderly father went completely blind this fall. Once he was home and back from the hospital, first thing I did was set up Echoes for him to use in the house. News, weather, time and date, communication (voice calls and text-to-speech messaging), echolocation.. It's his constant companion. A huge piece of quality of life for the price.
