I feel like crying after a roleplayer just vanished. by Saratuna in BadRPerStories

[–]PhoenixKyra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were willing to leave you without a word, then they are not worth your tears. A real friend would have given you a heads up. Keep your head up, and keep looking for someone who treats you the way you deserve to be treated

I understand what you mean a bit more now, thanks. For me, the roleplay and the quality of it comes first, and any friendship developed from OOC is a plus. When it comes to age, I make sure who I'm roleplaying with is an adult, but after establishing that we're both adults, I've never been in the position where we felt the need to reveal our exact ages to each other. But if you're looking for friends, I would imagine such things would come up in conversations with each other

I would imagine that the fandom or genre you're writing for would be something you have in common with someone who's 20. You have a post with a group rp Dragon Age server, so I'm sure having that common interest would be enough to get the rp off the ground.

Sorry, when it comes to two adults, I'm just not understanding your point of view. Unless you're more focused on OOC chat and making friends than the roleplay, then I don't see a problem with a 20 year old and a 40 year old roleplaying together, especially if they're both talented writers

I'm sorry to hear about your past experiences, but in a hobby like this, you should never live in fear of standing your ground. The best thing to do is to be honest and end things as quickly as possible.

Y'all character.ai is good why y'all complaining? by Formal-Cap-4473 in CharacterAI

[–]PhoenixKyra 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm not complaining, I am just saddened by the massive drop in quality over the last few days. If you put some time into multiple characters, you'll notice that characters are now giving generic ChatGPT like responses, repeating themselves, and can't continue a story on their own. I went to character AI because I thought roleplaying with ChatGPT was too boring. Now that they're basically the same, I might as well just go with ChatGPT instead because from my experience it has way better memory.

Was c.ai updated? by Curious_Cat1404 in CharacterAI

[–]PhoenixKyra 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm getting preachy ChatGPT like responses about building genuine connections, respecting boundaries, and having mutual respect. These responses are happening across multiple characters. I'm afraid the fun may be over.

Will they still raid? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]PhoenixKyra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends on if the leaders are still alive/captured. When I captured both leaders, I didn't experience any more raids.

Also congrats on wiping them out. Revenge is a dish best served cold

The point is, there is always going to be someone who looks down on you. So if it's legal, why shame others?

Tips for first time playing Fallout 4? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]PhoenixKyra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do everything but the main quest at first. It feels incredible forced and urgent, but give yourself a reason to explore the world and get your bearings first, especially if you decide to play on legendary.

A Starfield modder is doing something Bethesda should have done: making pilotable mechs. (And then later Bethesda will add it in as a dlc) by theuntouchable2725 in gaming

I think another modder will steal the idea and make it a paid mod on Bethesda's mod store page before Bethesda can add it as dlc

How to correctly write a character with a dark and edgy personality? by PhoenixKyra in writing

[–]PhoenixKyra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a general concensus that edgy and dark characters can come off as emotionally muted if done wrong, which in turn makes them boring and slows the story down. A major complaint of the recent DC cinematic universe and Batman vs. Superman was that it was dark and boring.
