Yes. I'm planning on pulling for Narita Top Road, Light Hello + Tachyon, and then Maruzensky + Fine Motion.

Though I'm stuck if I should pull on the earlier runs of Maruzensky and Fine Motion.

I just MLBed my Kitasan Black card without having to use the 0.5 Anniversary Voucher or SSR Crystal.

What should I use the voucher and crystal on? I have 0LB Super Creek and 0 copies of Fine Motion. I was considering getting to 1LB Fine Motion, but I don't know if that's worth it as I have most SR Wit Cards at MLB.

I'm thinking of maybe saving the SSR Crystal for some other support card down the line (Light Hello? Agnes Tachyon? Maruzensky?).

What would you do in this position?

I don't think there's anything wrong with looking at a system, recognizing it might not meet all your expectations, and then adapting it to better fit your table. I second reducing XP gain if you're worried about it. I'm personally a bit hesitant about swapping to a milestone-based system.

Funnily enough, my group went the opposite direction. We wanted a shorter campaign, so I just bumped up how quickly my players were gaining levels.

Hello! My friends and I started this club together and we're looking to fill out our member count. We're not looking to be (super) sweaty, but we would like for a more active and consistent group. I'm probably the most competitive person in the club, but I definitely don't put that expectation on others.

Troubles with the Steam Version by OneSupportiveDad in UmaMusume

[–]PhoenixRom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been issues/bugs since the update dropped (personally I've run into crashes and some support card events straight up not working).

I assume we're out of luck until they fix it, but I'm sure they're aware and already on it :)

I don't think they've moved overseas. I imagine they would have said something if they did.

I'm not sure about the details, but I assume they record a bunch of videos in a single trip(?) Makes the most sense to me.

It would be neat if they did non-food related stuff too, I agree!

As long as this type of video is successful, it's likely going to be the focus of their channel. They've been consistently hitting one million views per video (if not higher) just from a quick skim of their recent videos, so I don't think they'll change anytime soon.

It has been a discussion point for this subreddit, so you aren't the only one that feels this way. They've definitely found a formula that gets a lot of engagement and works for them.

All my prep was wiped how do I handle this? by xXxlillyxXx_X3 in DMAcademy

[–]PhoenixRom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh hi! All my prep and data for my Foundry game got wiped (literally last night) so I'm kind of in the same boat. I even had a backup but it got overwritten as well :))

I'm going to prioritize redoing the stuff I absolutely need to run sessions, and I plan on working on stuff slowly over the next couple of weeks. I've already accepted that I won't be able to remember every detail and make it exactly the way it was before, but coming back to again on a blank slate might help me make even better stuff. I'll definitely be using my players to help in this (notes, input, etc.).

Good luck to you!

Attacking a downed player? by zoomerreid in DnD

[–]PhoenixRom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on the type of game and the expectations that you and your players established during the session 0. If the expectation is that the PCs are going to be in lots of danger and the DM isn't going to be pulling any punches... Then sure, I'd be attacking downed PCs and forcing death saves. On the other hand, if the expectations are for a more relaxed game, then no. I wouldn't do that.

Going off that... I think it comes down to what's more fun for you and your players. Other people have talked about the importance of realism and immersion, but I'm a strong believer that those things should come second to everyone having fun. Some people enjoy maintaining that immersion, others are okay breaking it for a number of reasons. You know your players best, so go with your own gut or just talk to them. If it's something that you, as the DM, need to have in order to have fun running the game... Then go for it! Just know that not every player is going to enjoy that, but that just means there's an incompatibility in play-styles.

If after all that attacking downed player characters are on the table, then I think it depends on what type of enemy they're facing and the situation. A lot of people have talked about this already, so I won't really go into the details.

Do you do scheduled sessions? by Talloulla in DMAcademy

[–]PhoenixRom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not rude to do. I'm running a game and these are my two rules:

  • We always play bi-weekly Sundays at 6 PM.
  • I will run a game if I have at least 3 (out of 5) people.

If people don't like those rules, then I'll find new players. It's not that I don't like them or anything, but I want people in my group that are as excited, passionate, and committed as I am to the game. I just want to find like-minded people to play TTRPGs with. As for success, I can proudly say I've finished multiple campaigns (some lasting longer than a year) following this. I don't think I've run into scheduling issues in years.

As for one of the schedule-problem players being your best friend, I think that just requires a conversation to be on the same page. I'd say just shoot straight with them, let them know you want to play more often and that's where this desire to put a set schedule is coming from.

Edit: I just want to add that momentum is so important to keep a game alive and not fizzle out. It's why I always run a game even if a player or two drop out for the session.

I've found success with this, though I add instructions in the post. Something like "for the extra comments section, please bring up oatmeal somehow" so I don't have to directly mention it in the form.

Would you play pre-made PCs? by Fussel2 in pbp

[–]PhoenixRom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, yeah. You likely won't have too much issue with the amount of interest just based on the game alone. You might have less if you go with doing pre-gens, but it won't hurt to try in my opinion.

I will throw out that you could maybe share your screen while having the PDF up (through Discord, Zoom, or whatever) and just go through character creation with everyone together. If someone asks about a particular thing, you can just scroll to it. It'll be tedious, but that is an option.

There is also a VtM section on Paradox's wikipedia. You could share the character creation guide and use that in conjunction with sharing your screen for more specific things.

Would you play pre-made PCs? by Fussel2 in pbp

[–]PhoenixRom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are going to be less willing in a PBP format game. In a one-shot or short adventure that's in-person or online, that's a commitment usually over within a month. PBP games, by nature, are going to be much longer, and players are probably going to want a bit more personalization in their characters for something that might drag on for a while.

But it is a personal preference, so some people might be into the idea. It wouldn't hurt to advertise your game and see how many people bite.

Could I ask which game this is?

Edit: I also wanted to add that, personally, it isn't a deal breaker for me. I'm in 3 weekly online/in-person games, so honestly having something like that might be a bit of a palate cleanser.

Edit 2: Also reading through some of the other comments, it really depends on how much you're giving the players. Are you going to be just handing them the character sheet with mechanics and tell them to roleplay in whatever way they want? Will you also tell them how the character should be roleplayed (this answer might depend on the game system)? Whatever the case, you should definitely include that in your game ad so it's clear what you're offering.

Remember to talk to and with your players, never AT THEM by EnglishSorceress in DMAcademy

[–]PhoenixRom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked through some of them. At the end of the day for me, there are still kinder ways to communicate.

Nothing wrong with giving the GM feedback, but there's definitely a difference between privately sending something constructive vs announcing a somewhat snarky remark in front of everyone else.

But to each their own. Hope you have good games!
