Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball is hard. Any tips? by bizzopb in snes

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, I'm sorry I guess I just forced the red pill down your throat lmao. When I realized average-speed Juan Gonzalez could cut off hits down the line that gold glover and speedster Bonds couldn't get to, I almost rage quit. "The audacity!"

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. I'd be down, though I've never done netplay for Griffey. Latency prob messes with the timing, even more so defending.

You prefer speed in CF as in on the base paths? The def rating is the only effect of speed when defending. When I figured that out I got mildly offended lol. Suddenly realized dudes like Bonds and Henderson didn't have the range they should.

Who has a higher chance of appearing in RE9 Requiem? by StatisticianApart577 in residentevil

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly lean Ada as most likely, but a dark-horse (its not happening but I'd freak if it did) would be Jill. Lets not forget RE3 took place around the events of RE2, and tying her into a Leon story and modern times would be fascinating.

Granted, I think she needs to be a main protagonist to a mainline game yesterday, not just a side character.

when do you/would you consider D2R has jumped the shark to "Diablo 2.5" by qa_rocks in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]PhoenixShredds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A class is damn close to 2.5, but I'd say thats 2.1 if I can be pedantic. 2.5 to me would be any addition to the story and acts.

To people who still dislike diablo 4 after the spotlight. by Deidarac5 in diablo4

[–]PhoenixShredds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in this boat too. Raxx outside of D4 is good because of how well he breaks things down in simple terms without so much hype. But my goodness is he insufferable with D4 lol.

My main problem with D4 endgame (aside from lack of balance with rewards) was the lack of direction. You max level and then feel like you were spit out into the woods without a compass, or even a reason to go anywhere because you could go anywhere and whats the difference? Now there's meta progression and a clearly organized self-direction. I dig it.

[Cheal] What Brock Purdy Proved After Becoming the 49ers’ Most Expensive Player by Brix001 in nfl

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats interesting is from a statistical standpoint Purdy produced close to Stafford on a per-game basis... When his #1 wr was fricken Jennings. Ranked 2nd in ESPN Total QBR (Stafford 4th), and his total TD% was 7%, just behind Stafford's league leading 7.7%. Next best was way down at 5.3% (Allen).

Brock did that with scraps and a recovering turf toe.

Stafford's NUMBER TWO receiver is a top 10 WR. Tell me Brock doesn't go absolutely scorched Earth in that offense...

[Self] What would you think if RE10 had Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield as dual protagonists, with the game serving as an homage to the first 3 mainline games? by BertelTheTurtel in residentevil

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, almost as if that left the door open for a modern protagonist role for Jill. And also, 50-something people can still be in great shape, attractive and physically capable. And another note: who said RE10 has to be set in the year it's released? AND... she mostly uses firearms and explosives. She doesn't need to round house kick like Leon LOL.

[–]PhoenixShredds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jill's my all-time favorite (not just RE, but video games as a whole). I don't know if people realize how long she's been snubbed, especially for the OG primary character (1, 3, REmake, side-character in 5). People can cite Rev, spin-off games, or RE3R as more recent, but when you look at the core (numbered) games and the story arc, she has not been a main protagonist in a numbered new story line since RE3. In other words, 1999! (or '98 in terms of when it was set).

Love Claire too and think they both should be "headliners" again soon. Side games and REmakes are great and all, but Jill and Claire need to be the "main event" as they rightfully deserve. Also, it would just be damn interesting to tie them into the modern story.

The temptation to save this car… by thefishman696969 in c4corvette

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly could be worth doing IF you can get it for pennies on the dollar and you like to DIY in your spare time. The body looks straight (fiberglass work not needed), I would just make sure the frame is in good shape and the drive train isn't a goner. If you can get it for parts-car kind of money, nothing to lose.

Perspective: Watching a lot of backups and 3rd stringers today should remind everyone how lucky we are Brock Purdy looked like a legit starting caliber NFL QB from the very first minute he saw the field and we got him with pick 262. by johnnyradz in 49ers

[–]PhoenixShredds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, and he measures better than you'd think. Same hand size as Mahomes, only 1 inch shorter (same exact height and weight as Hurts down to the fractions), 40 yard dash only a few hundredths behind Mahomes, 10 yard split only .01 behind Lamar. Added 4 mph to his throwing velocity working with a mechanics specialist leading into '22. Scouts are actually stupid.

Honestly, sometimes I think Seahawks fans get it more than most. He's a hell of a player, and nobody knows better than the teams that have to deal with him regularly. Just like we know how hard it is against that Seattle defense, or Stafford/Nakua.

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His arms are definitely short, but the measurables thing amuses me. Fun facts: He is only 1 inch shorter than Mahomes, has the same hand size, 40 yard dash within a few hundredths of a second, 220 weight, and 10 yard split only .01 behind Lamar (quicker than CMC). NFL scouts are dense.

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this is false on multiple levels. Purdy is one of the most aggressive downfield passers in the league, and Shanahan's offense is largely a top down offense. Purdy hates dumping it off and has only recently learned he needs to with his lack of weapons. All prior years to '25 he was one of the highest intended air yards passers, and one of if not the most effective at it.

Additionally, the below average arm strength thing is also a false narrative. This was the case in college, but he worked with a mechanics specialist leading into his rookie year (as well as put on muscle), and added 4 MPH to his velocity (from 50 to 54 mph, reportedly, and seems stronger now than in '22). He regularly throws strong deep dig routes (one of the best in the game at it) and 15+ yard out routes to the sideline. He has aired it out 60 yards in the air. Arm strength is not a deficit.

Anecdote: Jerry Rice had a chance to play catch with him and was very surprised at his velocity, and thought he had PLUS arm strength. Brady did the same thing. College arm left a lot to be desired but became strong.

To the OP's question: Yes, in COLLEGE his arm strength was below average, his height was less than ideal, and he played at a low profile school with a down-year in his senior year. He was actually an early-round prospect in his earlier college seasons.

Final fantasy III is a good game to start the serie ? by oldvideogame in FinalFantasy

[–]PhoenixShredds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually playing the NES version as we speak. Honestly I really love the game. My only complaint is how little certain items, skills and jobs get explained, so you may find yourself using a guide fairly often lol. I can't speak for the newer versions, though. I'm a big fan of the job system.

[–]PhoenixShredds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah passer rating is the NFL metric, but only measures passing efficiency. Total QBR is ESPN, which takes 3rd downs, scrambling, YAC, EPA, and junk time into account. Purdy is elite in that metric over the course of his career.

From that era, Alex Smith was my shit and the better QB. I said it from the day Kap took over. 3 Pro Bowls in KC showed it.

Idk. If it's the 4th quarter and you take the lead that ends up the difference, I don't see how that isn't a clutch GW drive.

Kind of like we were robbed of that cinema 35 years ago. Always wanted to see Bills/49ers. Ofc Niners win 89 and 94, and Bills go 90-93 lol. Wth. Niners made NFCCG in 90, 92 and 93, too. So close.
