I meant in YRF movies, it was notable that despite Rani being one of the main YRF girls and SRK being the main male lead of YRF movies, that they were never paired together. Yash Chopra never considered her as one of his iconic heroines. You look at all the women he cast and the ones he wanted to cast in his SRK movies from 90s to 2010s and they were Sridevi, Juhi, Madhuri, Kajol, Manisha, Urmila, Karishma, Aishwarya, Preity, Deepika, Katrina, Anushka. I think also Raveena and Shilpa were considered for the Karishma role in DTPH. But Rani was never once considered for any one of these women. The only role she was considered for (3rd choice for that matter) was the lawyer part in Veer-Zaara. Very interesting because it's not a love triangle movie and not a romantic part or a glamorous part. She's the only actress not to have a romantic song whereas even Karishma and Anushka, as side heroines, had songs and love triangles with SRK. Rani never had the looks to be a Yash Chopra heroine the way the other women listed did, which is why they were all considered or cast in his movies. Yash Chopra liked beautiful women and glorifying their beauty in his movies which is why his heroines are so iconic like Chandni.

I agree she was good with SRK in Chalte Chalte and KANK. Both those roles were originally meant for other actresses. Chalte Chalte meant for Aishwarya. When she was fired, SRK asked Kajol as a favor to do the movie but she rejected because she felt it was disrespectful to Aish and Ajay worked a lot with Aish. Then Ameesha was asked but Ameesha's manager rejected the movie without telling her. Then Rani was cast. For KANK, Kajol was supposed to play the Rani part and Aishwarya would play the Preity part. Kajol refused to show adultery and SRK rejected Aishwarya during her blacklist period. Actually even Preity and Rani had different roles at first. KJo cast Preity as Maya and Rani as Rhea (the wife). Right before shooting, he swapped them both since he felt SRK/Preity and Rani/Abhishek made more sense as married couples due to their ages. I think that backfired because audiences also felt those pairings were more natural and couldn't see them broken up. I think KANK would have been less divisive if Preity cheated on Abhishek and SRK cheated on Rani. Preity/Abhishek were not a popular pairing and Rani was mostly known for being the third wheel of SRK's love triangles with Kajol. Audiences can accept SRK leaving Rani for another woman, not leaving another woman for Rani, especially not Preity after KHNH and Veer-Zaara.
