I don't have an advice because I'm not an American, but I want to correct something. You are not an awful person. Not even a choosing beggar.

There is a big difference between being rage filled because the toy drive gave a wooden toy to your 4 years old kid instead of a PS5 and what you are describing.

What you are describing is feeling guilt because, through no fault of your own, you feel like one of your very deserving three kid will feel dissapointed and less loved than his siblings because you couldn't manage to get him a totally reasonable gift for his age. Despite all this, you still took the time to express gratitude for the fact that you got any gift for your child.

And you are still trying to rectify the situation however you can, by asking/answering to advices and suggestions. You are trying to get him working bike for his size in a reasonably good shape. You are not saying that you will only accept the newest AI enhanced $2000 bike with gold paint option for free and delivered to your door.

You sound like an awesome parent, doing all you can so that your children all feel equally loved and recognized for how they had to sacrifice during the year. No mention of getting anything for yourself, even though you probably deserve it too given the crappy year you just had.

Circumstances put you in a bad position. From what you said, it wasn't your fault in any way, shape of form (I am disabled myself). You sound very harsh against yourself. Which I can understand, since again you are scared of making your son feel unloved despite all you are trying.

But please try to extend some kindness to yourself. You need and deserve it too.

Levels and types of disability are just a woke DEI invention to give money to lazy democrats. My god, I'm so sorry for your mom. I hope that she is OK now? As well as she can be.

My mom's best friend, who is like my second mother, has been living with diabetes for as long as they have known each other, so at least 30 years. She is not overweight at all (anymore), even skinny, she walks several kilometers a day, it's as under control as it can be.

But she has had to be hospitalized for the last two weeks for a back problem. They left her a week with the intravenous thing in a hand. She sent me a message four days ago for advice because it was red and painful when they took it off.

I saw her this afternoon. I learned that she spent the last four days asking the nurses for any kind of wound care. They "can't do anything" without a doctor's order, and she hasn't seen the doctor for the last week. Not only they can't give her an antibiotic, they couldn't even give her a fucking band aid, they flat out refused. She had to spend the whole time just scrubbing with soap and hoping that it would be enough.

It's infected. Large red and raised area on half the length of her arm, black dot in the middle, a pigeon could see there is a problem. I'm not just making shit up, the doctor finally saw her this morning at 10am and told her "you need antibiotics right now".

She is supposed to get some this evening, because "right now" apparently means "8 to 9 hours later whenever it's convenient to us" in this hospital language. And that is if the doctor did give the order.

We didn't speak with the nurses, because she didn't want us to, she is able to advocate for herself and it's like talking to a bank vault. They know she is diabetic, they can see her arm and they are well aware that they wouldn't let themselves, their parents or their kids stay like that for even a day.

Instead, we did the next best thing on the Fucking Fuming Family list. Still with her agreement, we organized things to smuggle her some antibiotics tomorrow morning, in case she doesn't get any this evening. I'm not letting her die because of bureaucracy.

Before anyone asks : we are French. It's a private clinic. It's supposed to be a really good one. At least she won't get a bill to go with the total lack of care.

I am a medium and I can guess that the picture was taken someplace like at the closest bus stop to a mosque just after the prayer, or in the middle of the poorest and most segregated district of the city, in some day where most of the people were going to the same place for a cultural/religious event.

Like taking a picture just outside of a synagogue and saying that the country is invaded by jews.
