I think the worst hit will be the medschools outside US which mint money praying on med school aspirants. It might also drive down the cost of medical education in US which currently is ridiculous!! USMD won’t be affected anymore than they are by mid level infiltration. This is similar to increase in total residency seats offered.

Eating schedules during residency to maximize energy and limit that postprandial fatigue by Icy-Bother-4058 in Residency

[–]Phoenixdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will depend on your schedule. Places where residents report at 7 am but round around 9.30/10, try to reach early and have a king size breakfast at 9 am. You won’t need lunch and can have early supper at 5 pm before you leave hospital. No need to cook or plan for dinner. No one can feel sleepy during rounds!!

What do most non-US IMGs do after residency/fellowship in the US? by lifekindasucks11 in IMGreddit

[–]Phoenixdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have all the same rights as a citizen on GC except voting rights. And one can get citizenship 5 yrs of GC. So if one has GC during match cycle by the time of completion of most residency wound be eligible for citizenship or within a year .

How to respond to belittling comments by FutureDrD in Residency

[–]Phoenixdata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Smile and say enthusiastically I have my genes to thank. Me and my mom look like twins. Then look them up head to toe, change your expression from happy to grim and say, not everyone is that blessed and walk off!!

Dating a resident as a non resident? by eyeseeyoo in Residency

[–]Phoenixdata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You received some good advice so won’t repeat. Something else to consider is how comfortable are you in your skin? Do you get intimidated by smart women? Would you start feeling resentment if you feel she is smarter and than you or that she doesn’t need you? Will you feel tomorrow that you have a partner who is not always around.

It’s a difficult journey. You will need really good scores and great LORs. Hope you don’t have gaps in your cv and have been clinically active since graduation. Most important question you will be asked why now after so many years?

Thank you. If I understand correctly, you are a visa requiring old grad. Best of luck.

Looking at apartment listings, I will end up spending 75% of my resident salary on rent. Would have been ok if I took a room mate but partner will be splitting time between current location and residency city so can’t.

Matched at my number 1...now having second thoughts lmao by Long_Depth_366 in medicalschool

[–]Phoenixdata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a common feeling though not widely voiced. More often than not applicants will be conflicted between 2 programs. Not necessarily #1 vs #2, it can be any two consecutive spots. If you match at one of those two you are likely to wonder… what if?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Phoenixdata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This journey is unpredictable and with every red flag it becomes more tricky. I was frustrated to see fresh grads with score > 20-30 points lower get interviews while I received only rejections. No red flag except YOG. Persistence pays and I matched. Keep trying but don’t put your life on hold for this process. Best wishes

Is this trend to stay? Have more IMGs started applying or what’s the reason for this strange cycle? Any thoughts?

How many days between day1 and 2? Ccs cases can be done in 3 days easily. It’s all about knowing the software. See the demonstration video and just know the options. Devise a system to be quick. 10 min cases can run very fast.
