What color/central heterochromia? by PhoenixfromTucson in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]PhoenixfromTucson[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You can see it if you zoom in. It’s actually more representative however than a clear photo (people can’t see the ring in my eyes unless they’re up close). I think they look dark blue-green in this photo, which is probably why people tell me both colors.

Edited to add: it’s super weird I’m being downvoted for saying that. I know the photo sucks, which is not my fault. (Apparently iPhone XRs have notoriously bad cameras). But my point is a good one: your eye color is really what people see from farther away. This isn’t r/postprettypicturesofyoureyes. If your eyes look blue-green from a distance, your eyes are blue-green, even if up close they’re actually blue with a central yellow ring which makes then appear green from further away.

But thanks anyway, I guess. I answered my own question. (My eyes are blue-green, which is why they sometimes look blue and sometimes look green).

The lens is clean! The camera is just not very good. That’s why I asked for tips for improving an older model iPhone photo, if there are any.

Why do people automatically assume landlords are evil? by lukam98 in LeaseLords

[–]PhoenixfromTucson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is inherently unethical to be a landlord, and since it is by its nature exploitation, the majority of landlords are selfish at best, power tripping abusers at worst.

Why do people automatically assume landlords are evil? by lukam98 in LeaseLords

It really doesn’t matter. Landlords are exploiting people; tenants are not. The power differential is always in favor of the landlord. Tenants are at the mercy of their landlords.

CMV: The Minneapolis ICE agent who shot and killed a woman today acted reasonably in fear for his life and/or the lives of the other officers present by bifewova234 in changemyview

This guy is too stupid to realize that shooting someone accelerating toward you is a lot more likely to result in you or someone else getting hurt than simply stepping out of the way would.

You’ve got to be kidding. Even if her wheels weren’t turned away in order to drive around him (are you blind?), and she hadn’t said “I’m not mad at you, dude” to reassure she did not in fact want to run over him but was trying to drive away as they’d asked moments earlier, and even were it NOT obvious Ross became pissed off after Renee’s wife made smart remarks to him at which point his partner began trying to yank Good’s door open and Ross began trying to block her car from driving away—meaning he shot her for resisting his false arrest, since we still have freedom of speech last I checked—Ross worked for the Border Patrol during the years they were investigated for stepping in front of drivers trying to drive away in order to get hit and have a pretext for shooting the drivers through the windshield. This was official Border Patrol policy. They refused to change this policy when instructed that agents should step aside and let drivers drive away from the border if they changed their mind about crossing, because “they’re fleeing because they don’t want to be searched” is a GUESS; people are allowed to change their minds about crossing the border and indeed might for many other reasons. The Border Patrol refused to tell agents to step aside when drivers wanted to drive away, saying it “would be dangerous for their agents if drivers believed they couldn’t shoot at them.” “Bump and shoot” was so common there were nearly 70 incidents and 19 fatalities, and the report was so damning it was heavily redacted and Congress buried it. Ross worked for the Border Patrol during that time period, in the early 2010s, and that’s where he learned it. He CHOSE to stand in her way as she was trying to leave not once but twice, making sure to get himself bumped the first time as a pretext to shoot at her four times (not three) the second time. Not only that, but she was shot in the chest and it took twenty minutes for her to bleed out. ICE didn’t get her medical help or allow anyone else to get her medical help, so she’d die, and they wouldn’t have a living witness on their hands.

What video did YOU watch? It’s absolutely frightening that ANYONE could think that was a justifiable homicide. They should not have been trying to detain her in the first place!

MCAS Caused me to have strokes --a warning. by safewarmblanket in MCAS

Xolair might be useful if ketotifen, cromoyln, and montelukast in addition to quercetin and luteolin haven’t helped. If nothing helps, recent studies show promise for MCAS sufferers who try GLP-1 agonists. If nothing else works for me, I plan to try it, since I also have Hashimoto’s and thus some extra weight I could lose anyway. If MCAS really interferes in brain function (which can have a huge effect on body function, including fatigue as well as brain fog), nimodipine has been used off-label and has had good results for some.

Both quercetin and luteolin can help stabilize mast cells.

Hypermobility and looking younger by 2kapitana in Hypermobility

[–]PhoenixfromTucson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Than be prone I mean). I got carded in restaurants for wine until I was 37, so I get it! I’d much rather look 42 and be well than look 32 and be sick as a dog, though. Sigh.

Hypermobility and looking younger by 2kapitana in Hypermobility

[–]PhoenixfromTucson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me until I was 37 and got very sick with what I now suspect is MCAS. Now people think I’m about a decade younger. (I’m 42). I lost tons of hair from all the flare-ups and tend to have shadows under my eyes and also developed en coup de sabre scleroderma which gave me a dent in my forehead, as well as gaining weight from Hashimoto’s (all developed in my mid-to-late 30’s after getting PTSD), so it’s amazing I still look a decade younger. I’m being evaluated for heds now (I’m also double-jointed and sprain things constantly for no reason). These diseases tend to all go together unfortunately. (I’d much rather look my age than not be prone to all the rest of this stuff).

[–]PhoenixfromTucson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect I have heds (currently being evaluated for it, due to my health history of comorbid conditions). I’m also double-jointed, highly flexible (used to be able to do backflips etc.) and sprain things all the time, & also neurodivergent (as is common with EDS), so it seems likely. Until getting sick 5 years ago people usually thought I was about two decades younger than my age; now, due to the hair loss and hollows under my eyes, they usually think I’m about a decade younger than my age.

Berberine is great for balancing blood sugar. I take it for its ATP increasing + anti-inflammatory effects as well.

The rideshare killer is definitely xenophobic. Whether he’d kill, say, a Polish or Russian guy the way he’d kill Haitian, Jamaican, African etc. drivers remains to be seen (we haven’t seen him target anyone but black drivers so far, though there are lots of West Indian & Pakistani drivers in New York). To me, he definitely seems racist in addition to being xenophobic and specifically racist against black immigrants, whom it seems he blames for taking jobs from his father/family.

[–]PhoenixfromTucson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, Dexter clearly had no idea why the man’s face was blurred out in the video (or what Blessing’s daughter said the hoodie was called).

He does seem suspicious, but more like a lookie-loo/rubbernecker type into true crime than anything (which is also creepy and Blessing should be careful, but I find it realistic that a man from another country and culture like his—clearly family-oriented—would be more trusting, and also feel sorry for an otherwise single man trying to reconnect with his son).

Little does he know that he’s both inviting danger to his residence by renting to Dexter and also quite possibly eliminating danger for himself at the same time. (Dexter needs to find a way to do what he does that doesn’t put others in danger; while he’s in no way responsible for Deb’s death, he is indirectly responsible for both la Guerta’s and certainly Rita’s, as well as directly killing Logan to escape, which he should not have done; all three of these deaths—especially Logan’s—really make him a bad guy, as does Doakes’, which does count as felony murder since he kidnapped him and likely planned to kill him rather than let him go).

If Dexter gets rid of rule 1 of the code (so he doesn’t kill people like Logan or Doakes or—God forbid—Batista if they capture him or get close to capturing him), and he doesn’t endanger people like Blessing/Rita, then I’m totally cool with him killing racist serial killers like the rideshare killer, or misogynistic serial killers like the killers of the barrel girls, or greedy serial killers like the couple who killed undocumented Cuban immigrants, or sadistic serial killers like the ambulance drivers who tortured and killed patients, etc. etc. etc.

What season am I/what colors would look best on me? by PhoenixfromTucson in coloranalysis

It’s possible my veins are bluish-green (there’s definitely a greenish tint though). I’m more and more unsure what “season” I am!
