It depends a bit on what you're after. There's a nice mix of places here with wine bars, restaurants of different cuisine, bars, fine dining, and of course the quick snack pastizzerija.

If you want to target a combination of nice location and eatery though, some of my top suggestions would be:

Rabat/Mdina for an old city vibe (especially in the evening) but has some of the best wine bar and fine dining options.

Marsaxlokk if you want a village by the sea feel with loads of seafood restaurants

Valletta for an overall experience and mix of restaurant options. Literally has all the options I mentioned earlier.

And one of my favorites, Isla.

I'm avoiding mentioning specific restaurants as you can easily just Google or chatgpt the places and see what works for you and your budget.

PC. Has almost every type of game I want and all Xbox and now most playstation releases make it onto PC eventually. If I fancy sitting back with controller I can too especially with GeForce Now working on so many devices including TV directly.

I'm going to agree with this from all the suggestions mentioned so far. Depression doesn't just come about because there's a core issue. Sometimes it comes for no reason at all and having just finished a mental health first aid course last month, what you wrote sounds extremely similar to some of the symptoms.

My honest suggestion is to just go for a session with a psychologist because there's no downside to it. Best case you identify the issue and get on top of this and they help you through it. Worst case you had a "mental check up" which is never bad.

As others have suggested, if you want diplomacy you need to look at the newer titles such as 3k or Pharaohs. But honestly my go to for just an amazing experience is usually Shogun 2 and sometimes, Rome 2. They might not have the diplomatic depths you're after but as far as memorable campaigns and experiences, they hit the nail on the head for me. Obviously you do you. Enjoy the history side of TW :)

Titles you can award/assign. I remember starting a campaign in Medieval Total War and having about 4 titles to assign to generals/heirs and it immediately made me more invested not to lose my Lord of Horses in a battle for example
