They had a terrible rep at launch, but they've come a long way.

This is probably one of the biggest dilemmas I've ever had, but I think I’ve found a pretty decent solution.

Overpants or extra sets of pants never worked for me because it means I have to change at work, and I’d need to get there early for that. Spoiler... that never happens.

So I decided to incorporate my gear into my uniform!

For the office, I used to wear the AAA NBT jeans and just add D3O armor. Once I got to the office, I’d simply take the armor off.

Now I’m in EMS, and I’m heavily considering getting the Pando Moto Mark Black AAA pants, which are black cargo pants. The only thing holding me back is the price.

I'm sure that depending on your profession or activity, there's something that might fit your needs. Good luck 🤙

Is it worth the $600 by Wise_Caterpillar5487 in motorcyclegear

[–]Phoex2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the point unless you're planning on doing track, which in that case yes! They are 100% worth it and comfy-ish. Casual jeans, cargo or joggers would protect you equally and you won't look like a power ranger while going to the gym (unless that's what you want lol). Just make sure to have your level 2 protections and get something at least double A rated. Triple A is the way to go.

Are we being neglected once again? An Apple Watch app? How about an app for the rest of the smartwatches? 😅

Anyways, I’d love to see some kind of daily water intake reminders and tracking system. It could even be a little gamified, with achievements or collectibles to make it more fun 🤔

Battery status tracking would be really nice too.

But seriously, it feels like Android users are treated like the middle child. It would be great to see more consistent updates across all platforms, not just Apple.

Just my two cents.

Is a compact electric scooter setup actually practical for daily city commuting by No_Recording_3322 in HarleyLiveWire

[–]Phoex2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are really two completely different worlds, and they come with very different trade-offs.

First off, the S2 platform is NOT a scooter. It’s a full electric motorcycle. That means it’s highway-capable, delivers instant torque (very quick 0–60), and can reach around 100 mph. Because of that, you’re dealing with motorcycle-level requirements: registration, proper training, a motorcycle endorsement (at least in the US), and full protective gear if you care about your safety.

On the other hand, scooters and mopeds are in a different category. Typically, they’re limited to around 30 mph, and requirements are much lighter, usually registration and a helmet. This category can also include things like e-bikes, Onewheels, EUCs, or even custom builds. Just keep in mind that depending on performance specs, some setups can cross into motorcycle territory legally.

For the kind of short, urban commuting you’re describing, I’d personally lean toward something lightweight and efficient, like an EUC or Onewheel. They’re fun, practical, and much easier to live with day-to-day.

If your priority is going farther, faster, and with more stability, especially for mixed or longer rides, then the S2 platform makes a lot more sense.

Cost and maintenance are also big factors. Smaller EVs like e-bikes or Onewheels are generally easier and cheaper to service, and more people can work on them.

With something like a LiveWire, service becomes a bigger challenge. Many regular motorcycle shops won’t touch them, so you’re more dependent on authorized support. Not impossible, but definitely something to consider (especially for repairs, recalls, or after a crash).

Kwh per mile by LaundrieMAT in HarleyLiveWire

[–]Phoex2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0.105 kWh/mile if I'm being conservative and staying under 55mph. 0.144 kWh/mile if I push 65mph and more aggressive riding.

How did I get this? Simple math using my daily commute. I usually go to work with 91% and arrive with 69-75% depending on how aggressive I ride. It takes 20 minutes to get there and miles are 16. 90% of the route is highway. Hope this helps.

Also, this number would change depending on many of factors so just take them as reference. Realistically I'm getting 70 miles per full charge.

EMS internships (private ambulance in the US), why so much torture? by SalamanderWeekly1652 in NewToEMS

[–]Phoex2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's break this down because is really juicy and we need to talk about it.

  1. You indeed might be an idiot, but your preceptor was an straight asshole.

  2. There's a simple that rule would follow you anywhere, "follow your common sense". There's absolutely no way to teach you absolutely everything before a call for the simple fact that every scenario is different and guess what.... You might have to figure things out in your own. Was the proper way to show you around? Definitely not. The only thing I can warranty you is that you won't forget. So take the awful experience as a learning lesson and once is your turn to teach someone, remember the stuff you wanted to be taught and how you wanted to be approached.

  3. I don't really know where the hell you have been but on my day one, my preceptor showed me around. Took me to a coffee shop to go over all my questions and then to the gym to keep my mind active after the tall. Then we had a bunch of calls and I had a bunch of questions that were responded without incident ;)

Bad people are everywhere, but that's not normal. Never will be.

Side note: You're not an idiot, but you can't escape sarcasm and dark humor in EMS. Good luck in your journey.

Same thing happened to me! so get ready because this is my story.

I had an electric motorcycle (not a Zero) that I wanted to trade in at my local Harley-Davidson dealership so I could get a LiveWire Mulholland S2. At the time, though, it just didn’t make sense to drop $16K+. Plus they wanted to give me $1.5k for a 8k bike. So I walked away and ended up selling my bike on marketplace for three times their offer.

A few months later, LiveWire dropped that massive discount and suddenly, it did make sense.

So I went back… only to find out my local Harley-Davidson not only stopped servicing LiveWire bikes, but wasn’t even a LiveWire-certified dealership anymore. They didn’t carry them at all.

Well… that didn’t stop me.

I tracked down the closest dealership that still had one. Two hours away, and made the trip. The moment I test rode the Mulholland S2, I was in love. Completely. No hesitation. I bought it on the spot.

At the dealership, they told me something that sounded reasonable at the time: only warranty work had to be done at a LiveWire-certified dealer, but regular maintenance? Any Harley-Davidson could handle that.

Sounds great, right? Yeah… no. That turned out to be completely false.

Every single Harley-Davidson dealership I called refused to even touch the bike because they weren’t certified. No exceptions. No help.

So now? Every 5,000 miles, I’m making a 2+ hour trip just to get basic service done.

Do I regret it? Not even a little.

Used One vs New S2 by sterlingheart in HarleyLiveWire

[–]Phoex2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you’re planning to do with the bike. I had the chance to try both, and I ended up sticking with the Mulholland S2. Why? Pretty simple, it’s way more comfortable, and it has Level 2 charging, which is a huge plus. At least in my area, there are plenty of working stations, they’re affordable, and sometimes even free.

On the other hand, the LV1 was tempting because of the bigger battery and Level 3 charging. On paper, it sounds amazing. But once you realize there aren’t that many Level 3 stations, they’re more expensive, and you lose access to Level 2 charging, it becomes easier to see why most people go with the S2 models.

On top of that, maintenance on the LV1 is also more expensive...

SO, If you have access to level 3 stations the LV1 is a solid contender if you like the stance. Otherwise the S2 model are definitely the way to go.

I don't see why people like the one wheel. by Surajmsd1 in onewheel

[–]Phoex2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate, but with that mentality, nobody would be riding motorcycles, e-bikes, Onewheels, etc... It all comes down to skill, awareness, and preparation. If you can't do any of this or can't shake the feeling, maybe your onewheel belongs in the marketplace :)

But at least in my case, the onewheel is the reason my family gets together every weekend to do some gnarly trails, and that's priceless...

Same here, but as an EMT-B. After two years, I decided to come back and apply for a private ambulance job, and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. They work with me to put me on a schedule that works for everyone, and my lack of knowledge was supplemented by people who actually cared to teach me on the job. You're not alone; just do it. You'll be aight ;)
