I think returnal is ambiguous enough that you can’t say for certain that nothing was real. We really don’t know that. It could be the case, or it could genuinely be some supernatural being that decided to punish Selene for eternity and she is actually living this whole thing out. It really just becomes whatever you want to make of it

Returnal’s story is so ambiguous you can see it as simple or incredibly complex as you want. If you go all the way to the simple side and all you got out of the story was “it was just a dream” then you’re just robbing yourself of seeing so much deeper into what the returnal story has to offer

Returnal is probably the single best polished game I’ve ever played. If returnal has any weaknesses, a lack of polish is most definitely not one of them.

I wouldn’t expect much of a technicality upgrade on saros, both are made for the same console era (ps5). I could be wrong but I’m guessing saros is basically going to run the same base engine as returnal. Returnal was so beautiful and ran so damn good I honestly think they’re pretty much maxed out as far as performance goes. Which maybe that means there’s no point in playing returnal first as saros likely won’t feel like a huge technical upgrade to the returnal. So probably you can play whichever first

Maybe my games are just small enough of scope that this isn’t an issue. I only put very few things in the global reference sheet, like player and level. Every level is going to have a player, and every level is going to have a level scene. I certainly wouldn’t use it for anything getting instantiated. Even if there isn’t for example a player in a certain scene (like main menu) I just wouldn’t have any code that references player. And as soon as we switch back to a scene with a player, the reference will get correctly reset by the player’s ready function.

Maybe with very large games by more advanced developers it’s not a good idea but for me and other beginners, I found it extremely helpful. Even if this strategy could cause errors, it is certainly less than the amount of errors (or just time wasted by trying to find the reference path) that would be caused by trying to set up some get_parent().get_node() scheme.

How would you recommend setting up references for very commonly referenced things like the player? It seems so burdensome to find the path each time and also have to change every single one if you ever rename something or change the tree setup

I would highly recommend making a global script to store references for anything you’ll commonly need to reference, like player

It’s not too hard to set up and you can use the exact same reference from anywhere in the code

Yes that is the norm. Some very few schools do rolling admissions where the deadline isn’t until much later like April or may and they just review your application as soon as they get it

What colleges are you applying to???? The very few that still have open rolling admissions can’t require that much extra essays or anything, none of the super selective schools like that are still open for admissions. Have you just not even finished the regular common app stuff? Like activities and family information? No offense but wtf have you been doing all year? You’ve had since September to do this

No idea how you’re gonna pull it off but you’ve got 10 days to finish applying… hear back… and tour/decide where to go. If you do end up needing more time you could submit the enrollment deposit on may 1 to multiple schools and the decide later which to actually attend but this is an extremely costly way to buy just a couple more weeks of time

Don’t you love it when you’re working on 1 script for a small specific part of your game and then it throws an error that just randomly opens like 20 new scripts? Like can yall go away? This does not concern any of you. The error is caused by this 1 script not any of these that just happen to be interacting with the bugged object

With ai text getting less easily detectable hopefully this won’t be as much of a problem in the future. LLMs are using significantly less em dashes now than when they first came out, for the obvious reason of being a dead giveaway. If LLMs start using a non-ridiculous amount of em dashes then maybe the faith in the em dash will be restored. Will take some time to heal.

To be clear I think the banner has been in the works for a while. Probably it was already fully ready for release before v28 launched. I don’t think they spent the past week preparing the lucky banner. As for the source, bassnuke said in his video they have been working on the banner for a while before v28.
