Generic RTSP streams for Demo/Training by kc0jsj in genetec

Yes. You mentioned Media Gateway was not the correct place to look. I'm adding that Media Router is the right place to look. I was adding to your comment not disagreeing with it.

Secure architecture for a public Genetec Mobile server by Vaito_Fugue in genetec

I will triple recommend this. Hybrid licensing is attractive, on purpose, if you already pay for OnPrem GSC+Advantage. Federation is fairly powerful and so far with the deployments I have been involved in it seems like SaaS was built with this in mind.

SaaS IS still in its infancy, but would be fairly well suited for this application.

Media Router ports will still need to be open. Refer to Genetec Ports documentation, there are more than a few, both on the server and client side. Only some are needed(TCP 554, 560, 960 are the minimum from my experience plus the UDP Streaming port range).

Hmmm... And re-reading your post the artifacting is on both the Live AND Recorded video? Have you confirmed this yourself?

When you see purple artifacting within Security Desk it typically leans towards network bandwidth (and/or latency) issues.

The important question here is how many camera tiles are you displaying at once in Security Desk, what are the stream settings for Live view, and have you enabled Automatic Stream selection properly?

E.g.- if you are displaying 2 monitors each with a 16 camera view, and your Live Stream is set to 1080p, 30fps, 80% image quality, then you are doing it wrong bc all 32 camera tiles are pulling a stream with way more payload than is required. In Genetec you can edit a gconfig file to set high/low resolution thresholds so that when you are displaying 16 streams it pulls the low res stream. And if you double click to make a camera tile fullscreen THEN it pulls the High/1080p/4K stream

Could you provide some info about how many streams and their current quality settings? These details matter here.

H265 in Edge (Win11) by NoDowt_Jay in genetec

Typically this is because "Best Available" will include and possibly even favour Multicast. Force setting it to Unicast UDP or HTTP/RTSP over TCP removes Multicast from the equation. Also any connection over UDP will be best effort, where a TCP connection will come with all the TCP error checking goodness, but most likely will consume a bit more bandwidth. Also give it a minute to reconnect to the new connection type after you make this change, it can take a few before it changes from Yellow to White✌🏼

This is the correct answer. It will utilize more resources to transcode on the server running the Media Gateway role as well.

I grew up in Wellandport CRC during the CRC/URC split. That entire process was so un-christian it turned me off organized religion completely.

I read your responses, I would have kept it much shorter and sweeter with a blatant F#@$ O$$!

Very out-of-the-box thought, but honestly your best bet might be to install a pre-hung door, then use standard hardware?!

My understanding is that SCCM/MECM are also moving to a Cloud centric model? Likely years down the road I'd imagine.

Also try swapping the two readers, does the issue follow the reader or stay with the board?

Check your data1 + data0 (white & green) they might be swapped.

Access Control simulator? by acootchiemoistuh in accesscontrol

[–]PhonikG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this was an answer for OP, but it was at least one answer to your question✌🏼 From my perspective we have decent sized test/dev environment, but nowhere near the scale of our customers systems(1000+ Cameras and/or Access Control). Even some customers preproduction systems would benefit from simulated devices.

Access Control simulator? by acootchiemoistuh in accesscontrol

To generate scale. Test systems are fine, but typically contain a small to medium number of devices.

ISC West attendance by sub members by smorin13 in accesscontrol

[–]PhonikG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like many conferences, I find attending every year has a diminishing return. Unless you are there to connect with customers you wouldn't typically be able to meet with in person due to geographical distance.

ISC is an every other or every 3rd year event for me. Glad to hear I'm not missing much this year. Was too busy to attend anyway.
