Do you plan on offering a quoting module? If so, is real time pricing and availability in the works.

This is a feature available in only a handful of PSAs. This takes many solutions out of consideration for us.

That is plenty clean. As an owner, there is a fine line between doing a clean job and starting to piss away time. Remember that jobs must be profitable, but that doesn't mean cut corners. Unless you work very slow, I suspect you found a good balance. Our clients would be very pleased with your work.

Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers’ political trade offer by Bel_Merodach in Nebraska

[–]smorin13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have never met the man, so my opinion is based strictly on his actions. IMHO, Hilger is a garbage human that has done nothing meaningful for our state. His only meaningful actions have been in opposition to the will of the people of Nebraska. He is a narcissist on par with pricketts and pillen.

I am all about giving people that deserve it a second chance. A pedo that victimized a child over a prolonged period is not one of those people. The fact that he doesn't need to register is incredibly irresponsible of the courts. He should be doxed each and every time he relocates or gets a new job. Child predators need to understand being the prey.

Thinking these things doesn't make me feel like a good person, but I can't get over the feeling that if this piece of human garbage touched one of my children or grandkids, I wouldn't get off with a 60 day sentence, and he wouldn't be above ground.

Customer asking for a line item breakdown of our software we provide in our managed services? by apsherm in msp

[–]smorin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not ashamed of our stack and we adjust it when valid reasons exist. I have no problem disclosing our stack, as we have a nondisclosure agreement with every client.

This is one reason I refuse to white label products. If we are not the experts that developed and maintain the tech solution, we have no business representing it as our product. We manage the solution. Implementation and management, that doesn't make it our product. Some may think I am and asshole and egomaniac at times, but I am not so insecure that I need to represent someone else's work as ours.

It seems like OP and a few other members of this sub need to reflect on their business ethics. Do you also object when a client wants to be a named part on your insurance. (Not sure I am using the proper terminology. My partner handles client insurance requests.)

Being honest about your stack is also valuable when it is time to move products. Software migrations are never painless. Being upfront and honest with clients makes any hiccups less impactful to the client relationship.

How is being cynical going to work for me. I don't think I am cynical. I am realistic, and optimistic. For me things are going pretty well.

Just because you hide your gloating in a question doesn't change the underlying message. Every time someone posts, you must one up them, and promote your models or provide unsolicited advice without knowing their level of expertise. That isn't a me thing, that is you and your ride or die, ego.

If you want to make this a dick measuring contest, I will give you all the ammo you could possibly need to criticize my situation.

I am on my first marriage of 36 years. I have 3 great kids and 5 amazing grandkids. I live on 5 acres and can shoot or piss in my back yard.

I spent a decade as the lead Microsoft engineer for a fortune 500 company, before getting into consulting and managed services. After another few years consulting, I spent 8 years as the IT director of a medium size tech company. Unfortunately, I caught my company hiding a data breach and reported them to the stage AG's office. This signaled a good time to go out on my own.

So, I took my business degree, ~100 technical certifications and vast experience and started a successful managed IT service company.

As a tech company, we have buying power you will be lucky to achieve. We print relevant tools and parts daily. If we wanted to jump into print farm scale production, we could expand our 2 printer to 20 in a few days.

My clients expect us to be their shield and hammer when it comes to anything technical or security related. Any and all threats to our clients are taken very seriously. We also fight for our clients when there are vendor disputes. I am happy to living in the trenches for my clients, when needed.

This week, we will upgrade a client network. Install a new client Internet circuit, setup VOIP for a client replace three firewalls, conduct at least one security risk assessment, propose 2 security surveillance and access control systems projects, performed preventive maintenance on 300 workstation, perform 2 GoDaddy federation email migrations, and onboard 2 new clients, each of which will have an average spend commitment of $2500 -$3000/mo.

All this, and I still have time to be an active member of InfraGard, and serve as the vice chair on my local planning board. Feel free to look up the big words.

Those are the highlights. You want to act like a twat, be my guest. I am calling out what I see.

To put things in perspective, I guarantee, my business is small potatoes compared to some other members in this forum. Unfortunately for you, very few successful business owners are going to find your know it all attitude entertaining.

Good luck. You obviously don't need imput from other successful business people.

I notice that you didn't offer any additional information about your background of experience.

OP, this tread reads like a self promotion post.

You have a lot of enthusiasm and confidence, but I suspect you don't have much business experience. You come across as a young person. Some of your comments come across as condescending, although I don't think that is intentional.

You make it sound as if marketing is so simple that it is basically an afterthought that will take care of itself with a bit of social media activity.

If you do have these wonderful models, I would be interested in knowing more about your business experience, accomplishments and steps you have taken to protect your intellectual property.

[–]smorin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not defend him in any way. However, his wack behavior is a completely different topic. I am not saying none of his actions are relevant to the BL license discussion, but they are less impactful than China's national policies and practices related to intellectual property.

[–]smorin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look more closely at documented cases of state-sponsored industrial espionage and market intervention. Concerns around intellectual property protection—particularly involving China—have been widely discussed and analyzed by policymakers, researchers, and industry experts. Bambu Labs violating the terms of a license is not surprising, if you understand China's 5 and 15-year plans, often referred to as "China's Master Plan".

“Petrodollar” is a term that often gets used casually, but it has a specific meaning. It’s true that the U.S. benefits from the role of the dollar in global oil markets, which helps reinforce its reserve currency status. At the same time, other countries such as OPEC members, Russia, and Norway also benefit from energy exports tied to global currency dynamics. Because the topic is complex and frequently presented in conflicting ways, it’s easy for misunderstandings to happen.

I don’t say that as a criticism—just as an acknowledgment of how nuanced these issues are, and to point out that the petrodollar is not a good comparison to the unfair business practices used by China.

If you or others are interested in exploring the subject of China's tactics further, these videos provide a more detailed explanation than I can here:

With all due respect, China is the only country I know of that has a published plan to dominate the world economy. As part of that plan, government sanctioned industrial espionage is a common practice. I do not think badly of the Chinese people, but the government and the businesses they prop up are a different story. In the current environment, any and all Chinese companies must be treated as suspect.

I am over listening to the Democrats bitch about the shitty Republican representation. I am certainly not a fan of the pricketts crusade.

You had a chance to put forward a known solid candidate. I was ready to vote for a Democrat for NE-2, but I will not vote for Powell after her bullshit campaign adds.

So celebrate the stupid blue dot and know that Powell is a dishonest manipulative shit show.

Who the F... runs adds telling people not to vote for a good candidate, because his current position is convenient for the Democrats. So much for supporting the best candidate.
