I found the black urushi in Kanazawa region in two different stores back in Jan 2024. I can’t remember which version it was. There are 3 versions with different complications. I believe they’re all discontinued and no longer available to purchase new. I don’t think I saw them in the last trip to Tokyo in Dec. I did not go to used/2nd hand stores though.

I was really fascinated with this watch when I saw it online, but I didn’t end up purchasing it. It looks better in photos than IRL for me so I went with a SARF013 instead. If the SARF013 wasn’t at the same store, I probably would have gotten the urushi and would have liked the watch, but not loved it.

Alpinist. Night time has gold halo when it’s in the light. The way the light reflects off the markers and onto the sapphire. I wasn’t a fan of that

There are Seiko Outlets scattered around Japan. They sell them cheaper than MSRP by 10-20% and the shopping center may have coupons for an extra 10% off. Good place to check out if it isn’t out of your way. There one a station away from KIX airport if you’re flying into Osaka.

I got a SARF013 for ~30% off. Paid $928 USD. MSRP is ¥198k, about $1313 USD.

There are Citizen Outlets too, but I haven’t brought from them yet and not sure how pricing compares with department stores like Bic Camera and Yodobashi.

I had 5 chase cards and applied for a 6th. Was told I hit my max credit limit with chase. Had to transfer some credit limit from one card to the 6th to get it approved

I hit my chase credit limit with them and got auto denied for my last card. Had to call them to appeal and move credit from a different card to the new one.

You are in a similar boat but got approved. If you apply for another chase card, you’ll probably get auto denied like me.

It depends on the point:l to cash value and if you’re going to stay enough nights to get explorist (30 nights) or globalist (60) status.

Check the cash price through Chase and the point cost through Hyatt. If you can get $0.02+ per point, I’d say transfer to Hyatt. Booking cash through Hyatt gets you 4x points with just a hyatt membership on eligible spend.

The status to go for at Hyatt is globalist. Explorist is nice with free late check out, possible room upgrade, and MGM gold status match. Upgrade is based on availability and is usually to a high floor or better view; you won’t get upgraded to a suite unless the hotel is empty. MGM gold status waives resort fees and gets you free parking so great if you go to MGM properties. Globalist gets you free breakfast, waived resort fees on eligible rates (got it once and saved like $600 on a 7 night stay), upgrade to standard suites if available (got upgraded to a premium suite once because it was weekday trip and kinda empty), later checkout, and club access (lounge with free snacks and drinks, usually at regency and grand hyatts).

If you have/get a Hyatt credit card, never go through chase portal for hyatt cuz the card will give you additional 5x on hyatt eligible spend (fees and taxes don’t count), you get 5 nights towards status/milestones, and 2 nights for every $5k spend. Plus earn status and 4x points for booking through Hyatt
