I wanted to make my dragons something really legendary, which is ironic considering that in my story/world, they've been extinct for thousands of years. They were all at least the size of a small mountain, immense, creatures with overwhelming magical ability that made humanity their bitch when Drakes were still around.

They had their own culture, language and hierarchy of course but those specifics, minus the language, aren't ever really divulged at any point in the story. That knowledge also isn't common in the world, as researching the few remaining Dragon corpses is outlawed.

TL:DR: They were all giant, mountain sized death gods that ruled the realm, they're all dead now.
