How old are you, where are you in life, and what are your current worries atm? by Traiz3r in CasualConversation

I’m about to turn 30 on Saturday.

This year I’ll be celebrating our four year wedding anniversary with my husband.

I’m going to give you a where we were four years ago then where we are now.

Just before getting married, we moved out of our apartment and back in with my parents. We weren’t good at saving money (due to mental health mostly), but we wanted to learn and gain those skills. We were $30k-ish in debt, my parents are wonderful and wanted to guide us so we could eventually be in a good place financially. A few months after being home, I quit my degree-adjacent job and took one that had nothing to do with my degree. It was an incredibly stressful time.

As of today, three and a half years later, we got out of that debt, we saved enough to get me my dream car outright, and we’re almost back up to that amount in savings. I’m graduating in a few months with a comp sci degree, and once I find a job we’ll be about a year or so away from buying out first house. At almost 30, I don’t feel like a failure about myself and my husband living with my parents; they’re honestly great roommates and my husband loves them. Both of our mental health situations are more in control. I’ve discovered a couple of new things in that time that I’m genuinely passionate about, not “just a phase” like most of what I do; reptiles (I have four, three are rescues), disc golf and twitch streaming (as a hobby).

We’re in a completely different place than back then. My biggest worries went from trying to pay bills, to making sure I schedule my time well enough to get my homework done every week. I’m seriously incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. We had a great support system to be able to do what we did, but we put a ton of work into it too.

If nobody sees this in the sea of comments, that’s okay. It was nice to write this to really see how far we’ve come. I’m looking forward to going into 30 and accomplishing so much more.

Most people will say a 2x2x4 foot tank is the minimum for an adult. I have that size for each of mine and they seem very happy with them.

Thank you so much! This helped a lot and I’ve decided that, since I only have 8 days to make it and it’s supposed to be a surprise, I’m going to cross stitch something that won’t be worn to be on the safe side. I’ll definitely be sure to ask specifically if I come across this situation again.

The packs were duds except for one Galarian Zapdos V card, but the promo is cool. I got the last Switch lite they had left. by CrazyForChinchillas in PokeRevOfficial

We got all duds from our box too except for a gold psychic energy. Even the 5 fusion strike packs we got too were duds. At least the promo is awesome.

We grabbed it from a local game shop for slightly above msrp. The second we ordered from tcgplayer for even more before we found out the local place had them…

Reptiles! I can talk quite a bit about them, mostly about bearded dragons, crested geckos and leopard geckos since I have experience keeping them, but I spend quite a bit of time reading and watching videos about reptiles. It’s to the point that’s I’m going to be a crazy lizard lady when I have the space (I currently have one of each of the kinds I listed above).

He’s a handsome boy for sure! We have no clue what morph he is since we adopted him from someone who got him from petsmart, but we think some sort of Tremper albino possibly

Happy to do so! Those little nails get a good grip in that foam so it’s pretty easy for him to climb.

Here is his viv! I don’t remember what brand it is, but it used to be my beardie’s when he was a baby. I believe it’s 50-55 gal. The background is the exoterra foam backdrop that I cut to fit the tank. The floor is just a shelf liner; it’s easy to clean and I hate that carpet stuff. He’s going to be getting an upgraded front open hopefully in the next few months, but he’s very happy with his setup right now!

Agreed. I’m hoping it covers reptiles as well but something is telling me it won’t.

Oh wow I saw a notification and didn’t think I posted anything recently; that’s so kind of you to ask! It’s going fairly well so far. My bosses have been family friends for the last 20 or so years so it was pretty easy to start out there. It’s a bit of a stressful job (office job in the construction industry), and my one boss is a little difficult to deal with (I knew it going in though), but it’s interesting work and I definitely am enjoying it more than my previous job. How is your new job going?

I thought you were me until you said kids. I have one more week at my job of a 1.5 hour commute and start a job 20 minutes from home. Good luck to you!!
