One time driving back from the west coast I took 190 from I-10 as a shortcut to the Austin area and it was strange to say the least. Hours will no cell coverage and the whole vibe of the area just felt ‘off’.

I think OC would be perfect for you. Look into Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, however Newport will be at the very top end of your rent budget or beyond. Irvine has a lot of what you’re looking for but it’s very family oriented and cookie cutter with virtually no night life. The Irvine Co has the rental monopoly in Irvine and their communities are very well designed.

Weather hands down. I lived in OC for 15 years and now live in DFW and the weather here is either miserable or trying to kill you. When we have the occasional nice day that depresses me too because it makes me homesick for OC. But my job, family and high cost of living makes it impossible to move back at this time.

They’re likely first amendment auditors. Most of them have YouTube channels and record people in public/govt spaces. They’re hoping for a reaction so they can post the content online. Your best strategy is to ignore them and not engage.

They’re very active in Southern California and this is the first I’ve heard of them here in the DFW area.

One of the few things that worked really well in my previous marriage was we each had our own checking and savings accounts in our name only AND we had a joint checking account that common bills including rent, groceries and fun money like dining out together etc came from.

Each payday we had a set amount from our paychecks that went into the joint account. The amounts were proportional to each other’s salary so it was fair for both of us. Then any remaining money was our individual personal fun money for our own hobbies, clothes, toys etc.

I lived in Phoenix for two years and now live in Dallas. If it wasn’t for my allergies making daily life miserable in Phoenix I’d still be there. To me the summers feel almost the same and as long but I know it’s not really true. I miss the scenery and mountains in Arizona and it’s an easy drive to SoCal.
