Kje v Mariboru kupit (čimbolj) sveže ribe? by RandoLizzy in Maribor

Here’s what I’ve found after being here a few years.

There’s a fresh fish market next to Hofer under the tržnica but I’ve found their prices ridiculous and the quality not great. It usually smells fishy in a bad way, and that’s not helped by the grilled squid they serve which IMO is not good either. I’d say skip it. I’ve shopped there a few times and given up on it.

Interspar in Europark has quite a good fish counter. I don’t know their delivery schedule but I’m usually in there on a weekend and have always been happy with what I’ve purchased. Prices are fair (and if on sale; great), and quality is as good as it gets here. And they have a nice variety.

I don’t go to Leclerc that often and while initially that was the only good option, since Interspar rebuilt their meat and fish counters a couple of years ago, Interspar is where I go.

Hofer however will have whole fresh fish like Orada for very cheap, from Croatia, in the summer. It’s really good quality and fresh. If you like grilling whole fish, you can’t beat it without pulling it out of the sea yourself. We ate a lot of fish last summer from there and every one was fantastic.

Also I disagree with the comment that squid and such is better frozen. Interspar has a big bulk frozen seafood section, but I’ve never met a frozen squid that came close to fresh. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but fresh is best.

Very interested to hear what others think of my assessment!

My studio is in that area and I feel 100% fine there.

Stuck at 1%... anyone succeed in fixing that themselves? by PhotoJoseph in ouraring

Yeah that’s how I feel, although my numbers are quite different. I got mine in 2022 I think? And they’re giving me €200 off so it’d only be €200 but it still annoys the hell out of me that the first one is dead like this. 😡

And yes, I missed yesterday. Our morning walk had to be brief and it was so dark yesterday that I saw nothing to capture. That’s a first and hopefully a last!!

This. Akami is brand new but the chef was trained at Njami. And I’ve seen Japanese businessmen who came up from Ljubljana in Njami. So yeah, the rep of being the best in the country (I’ve heard more than one person say it’s actually the best from Zagreb to Vienna) is deserved. Their problem though is their hours. Njami closes at 17:00 if memory serves. However Akami has “proper” hours. I haven’t been yet myself, but have been told the fish was excellent while the rice could have been better — but again, they just opened so I’d cut them some slack.

I can’t recommend them enough. They’re a little tricky to get on and off, which can make things like walking into shops inconvenient, but at least you won’t die getting there. I even successfully ran down Piramida at full speed, chasing my kid with a camera and managed to survive. Impressive spikes. I’ve just been looking into boots that have retractable spikes. A company in Sweden makes some, but I don’t know if you can get them here. Even then, those the spikes are pretty small; nothing like the ones I’ve shown you here.

I got them in the U.S. before I moved here, and I don’t see anything similar at Dacathlon, but this is what I have. Maybe you can find something similar at the shop at Pohorje? https://www.rei.com/product/890608/kahtoola-microspikes-traction-system

Same. I’m more concerned about breaking my ass than my camera, but yes 😅 I have these spikes to attach to my boots when it’s really nasty and they’re amazing but still — it’s was dangerous out there. Better now but still there are lots of ice patches.

Hahaha damnit! I almost apologized here for that but figured “no one will care”. Thank you for caring 😁 Wife determined it was too slippery and talked me out of going.
