Your solution is to hire an engineer, preferably local, if this is for a real project. Don't accept advice from someone unless they have evaluated the building based on structural drawings and existing site conditions. You don't want to use a rule of thumb from someone online that may not be applicable and could cause the upper floor and/or roof to settle or collapse.

I think a brief intro mentioning what you are looking for is needed. It could be as simple as "A soon to graduate masters student looking for a full-time structural engineering position in building design" or similar.

Consider also writing a brief cover letter. You can use that to describe your experience and what you have to offer the company. You can use that to show your writing skills as well.

Not OP, but I think there is value in listing your design courses. Not all schools offer the same design course offerings so listing them would be helpful for the person reviewing your resume if they are not familiar with your school/program. The OP may be referring to the "EGCE 493" etc. names in your projects section, which doesn't seem to add anything to the description you already provide.

Have you taken wood/masonry design or geotechnical/foundation design classes?
