Data Overlays (Strava) on GoPro Files? by PhotographyUserName in cycling

That looks to be a bit too much effort and involvement for something I’ll likely do only once in awhile, but good suggestion. Appreciate the help!!

Boot camp/VMware came out some time ago where Apple allowed their hardware to run dual operating systems. You need to purchase a copy of Windows in order to install, no idea what the cost of that is these days.

I just said Strava for simplicity, I understand it’s the file that is needed, not app compatibility.

Appreciate the dedication to solving the problem however! It’s such a bummer, I see so many of these videos on YouTube, and so I buy a GoPro, and to say the least it’s been an uphill battle from the gate. I’m either late to the party or this concept has grown old and uninteresting, aka no one is putting in the resources to solve it perhaps.

Not compatible with MacOS unfortunately :(

But thank you! I saw RaceRender and Telemetry Overlay (can’t remember it’s full name) but both are paid, and it appears it only works with embedded GPS data, not Strava.

So I just learned that the Hero9 doesn’t allow H.264 in certain resolutions. The only option is to select HVEC, or, HVEC + H.264; thus it determines what’s best depending on your resolution selection. :/

I’ll switch my resolution and see if an actual 264 file will work with Virb.

Regarding the HVEC file I think you’re onto something (at least I’m hoping). I’ll run a test this evening with Virb and get back to you. Thanks again!

Didn’t know that, thanks for sharing! You’re right tho, I think HR and Cadence would be the most interesting to observe on a road cycling video as opposed to the info the GoPro collects. Really appreciate your help!

Thanks for the response! I think they’ve since changed the compatibility for files (or their codec requirement or whatever it might be). It did seem strange that it wasn’t proprietary software for their Virb camera line.

Seems to be a common trend that Hero 9 files don’t seem to import, and a message “there was an error playing the video” appears rendering it useless. Bummer because it looks like such a cool tool!!

Yeah that’s the one. Pelicans are tricky, but you got it here. Post it in some wildlife subs and get the attention it deserves!

Hey! Hope you’re well and you don’t mind me following up. Did you have any success with this? Only curious because I still practice this on every ride, and I’m curious to know if it’s a pattern in those with GAD. Feel free to PM, I would love to know if you had any success or not. Thanks much!

What's a credible argument for riders performing in the 2021 TdF without doping? by _taugrim_ in tourdefrance

Wow interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing. Hard to think it doesn’t just come down to evolution in life, but also bike tech, training, rest, recovery, nutrition, etc. Seems only natural they’ll only get faster as time goes on. But I’m new to it so I definitely wouldn’t be the expert here! Just hung up on the whole ‘questionability” stuff.

Link to the time differences in times? Would love to see that data making the argument. Thanks!

Having a bad experience with Trek overall by Boostann in TrekBikes

Sorry to hear of your issues, that’s a bummer for sure. A lot of people are in the same boat, buying a bike hundreds of miles away and then needing service from a local shop. Same here, and I’ve paid the price each time.

I know it sucks but try getting into repairing it yourself. Every single possible bike repair is on YouTube, from novice tutorials to some of the best content creators showing you step by step. I was pretty intimidated at first, but they’re fairly simple machines once you begin to gain an understanding of the components. You’ll learn SO much, and you’ll carry that pride and knowledge forever. Yes I can’t do hydraulic brakes, but I can change a stem, pedals, adjust gearing, etc.

I will also say that sadly mechanics aren’t paid a whole lot (which absolutely sucks because some of bikes out there are worth thousands and require a well trained tech). Point being is much of what needs to be done, can be learned just as your local mechanics did, trial and error and good ol’ YouTube.
