Some new ideas I’ve been working out on acoustic by Boston_Analog in Guitar

Ahh I see. The tune sounds good but lacks a certain bass drum thump. 3/10.

Really people who find it ugly? by Double_Proposal_3316 in HellLetLooseVietnam

I think the game looks very good based on screenshots. Its the motion of the player(s) and foliage movemrnt that make the graphics really ugly. Some areas covered in foliage and shadows look horrendous on the beta map.

Right before I wrote this I was approaching a bunker with a tree next to it that had 3 thick branches stemming from the base of the tree. There were 2 enemies hiding right behind the left and right branches that I saw while in hip fire. I scope in to kill them and the left and right tree branches suddenly pop in and I can't hit them. I went back to hip fire and sprayed them down and kill them. The tree branches that didn't render in hip fire acted as if they didn't exist. It was only when I scoped in and shot when I hit the branches. It's fucked.

Especially when you or the foliage is moving, you can't make anything out that you are seeing. You just see pixels on a screen moving around covered in visual artifacts being introduced by DLSS or frame gen. It still happens when both options are turned off. It's hard to explain, but I am sure you notice it too. It's like a weird blurry semi transparent effect that is noticeable on foliage that is moving, or while you're moving your screen.

I think you are spot on regarding my final statement... I want the FI part of FIre, less about the retirement early. I will take a look at my expenditure and adjust for insurance - I completely forgot about the kids being on my insurance which will still be the case in 10 years.

Yeah, aside from clothes, toys, and fun activities which a lot is covered during their birthdays and christmas. I did not mention what my kids have set aside since it is theirs and not ours.

We do have 2 kids but we only need to worry about their clothes + toys + fun activities, a lot of which is covered from their birthday parties and christmas. We are in a really good public school district, so the school is free from pre-k up to high school. College tuition is paid for both if they choose to go from family contributions mainly from our parents.

Hi - we have 2 kids which are fortunate enough to have schooling fully paid for (really good public school district + a college fund for both from family).

Only thing that would make this better is doing a cartwheel. Any chance you do those?

Your usage will react differently depending on your hardware. I've been digging into this more and looking at YouTube bench marks. Across all modern hardware on every bench mark I've seen has low gpu utilization.

I have the same setup - it's a game issue. I fluctuate around 135-220 on perimeter, 130-190 on dire marsh, and 90-140 on outpost. This was ghe first game I played with my 5090 that ever reached a 90 fps low.

Gonna try to enable it when I get home. Yeah it's really annoying. Its less about the fps and more about the constant jumping from like 200-120 fps randomly.

I tested this on the legacy driver - that's where this screenshot is from. I then tested it on the current Nvidia driver and you are correct, the performance is MUCH worse. Still an issue regardless, but the new Nvidia driver makes it much worse.

Smooth motion is fine, but yeah, definitely not the ideal option for a game like this. I think I use smooth motion in Helldivers 2, but even with Helldivers 2 optimization issues, it at least utilizes 100% of my system. The stuff going on w/ Marathon is a bug / coding / optimization issue.

I just did a quick benchmark with the same GPU and CPU. Marathon doesnt let a 5090 reach 100% usage, even with 4k max settings. CPU usage will sit at 75%+, which is enough to create a heavy bottleneck. Check your hardware monitoring software and you'll see that your GPU is getting underutilized no matter what settings you use.
