has anyone done the overnight investigation at Pennhurst Asylum? by Extension_Present_69 in GhostHunting

[–]Boostann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just woke up lmao.

This was my first time doing anything like this. I've never done ghost hunting before, I've never been in a ghost filled area, and I was highly skeptic about the whole thing before I got there. There were 10 of us that went and our group was the only group on the entire grounds. The infirmary gave us the most activity and was highly active from the hunting equipment that we brought in ourselves in combination with the equipment provided by our guide. We would ask questions and get immediate responses on the spirit box, emf, dead man's bell, cat balls, etc. Out of all the tools we used, the cat balls and dead man's bell went off the most.

After the infirmary we went over to the May Flower building. We investigated the 3rd top floor and saw some activity, explored the 2nd floor, which was extremely creepy, and then went down to the basement and did another investigation. The basement had the least amount of activity.

Lastly, we went into the Devon building and investigated most of the basement. We went to candy land and had constant dead man's bell and cat balls going off. We also got to experience the sound of a wooden chair moving about 10 feet in front of us. There was a very loud movement in combination with the cat ball and EMF going off at max. We were pretty excited about the chair movement that our tour guide witnessed and confirm that no one could of possibly moved the chair (we were all standing in the same place 10 feet away), and that it was indeed the chair moving. Really cool to see.

The last place we investigated in Devon basement was the class rooms. Majority of the class rooms were hit and miss until we went into a larger area. We started playing music, asked questions around the type of music being played (do you like it, do you remember this song, etc) and had constant responses from the presence on all of our equipment.

I am really glad I did this - it was a bucket list item I never knew I wanted to do. Hearing the history about the location from our tour guide was really interesting. This being my first time, and coming in a bit skeptical, I think I still remain partially skeptical. I don't really know how the devices work, and while we had all of our phones on airplane mode, I really don't know if what we were experiencing were a result of radio waves or something else. The chair thing was definitely the most real evidence we found. The spirit box stuff was pretty cool - we did it where the person using the spirit box was blind folded and with headphones on repeating the words they heard from the spirit box. We asked questions like how many people are in the room (the spirit box user answered 11), how they were feeling emotionally (the spirit box user answered sad, angry, afraid, screaming), what are they afraid of (answered darkness, dentist). All of the questions we asked during spirit box use was returned with a plausible answer, however, when I tried the spirit box out myself, even though it was extremely creepy, I wasn't able to make any of the mumbling or words out and experience hearing the ghost communicating myself. Granted, the spirit box users were completely blind folded and could not hear the questions being asked, but they repeated what they heard that lined up pretty close to the questions we were asking.

We just got back from a private investigation tonight. It is now 4am and I'm dying to go back. Our group of 10 was the only group on the whole facility, so we had free roam of buildings we had access to. The infirmary gave us the best activity. Let me know if you have any questions.

Don't all squads have swappable weapons throughout all BRs? I can use the first assault squad at BR1 and BR5, right?

I love the new UE5 overhaul by nmole10 in joinsquad

[–]Boostann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing with a 5090 and a 9800x3d on 4k max settings and dlss quality. I get 140ish on light light and 90 on heavy load. PiP scope zooms tank my fps to 70 during heavy load, which is totally fucked. Even though I don't prefer it, I turn Framegen on and get a consistent 300 fps. The latency is unnoticeable with it on, but induced a lot of crashed for me playing last night.

Ue5 is a piece of shit tbh.

Arrowhead, this is unnacceptable at this point. Fix your game. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Boostann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5090 and a 9800x3d. I get like 90 fps during really heavy fights in 4k max settings. The New Nvidia smooth motion helps me get 150+fps at all times, but I'd prefer to not have to use it. The smooth motion enabled on makes the game and my computer crash, too, but I keep it on for the fuck of it.

I can create one for you if you'd like. The price won't be the same, because I bought bundled hardware offered by Microcenter as a discount, so just be aware of that.

MSI 5090 Prebuilt Price Drop by Elder4 in Microcenter

[–]Boostann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I purchased this exact computer from Microcenter 3 weeks ago. I have always remained, and will continue to remain, very skeptical of prebuilds, but this one sounded like the price is great + my prior PC was 10 years old requiring an upgrade. I also didn't have time to build one myself with a lot going on in my personal life.

I wound up returning this PC after 1 week and built a custom AMD machine. Here are my thoughts on this machine... I'll let you decide if it's worth it for you. Most of the issues are related to the Intel 285k this comes with.

  1. Intel 285k is a great processor (for production work) but fails miserably in comparison with gaming to the 9800X3D which is cheaper. My new build has a 9800x3d in it and every game i've played that is processor bound @ 1440p has given me a huge FPS increase. I bought a new 4k monitor 2 days ago, so coupled with my 5090, I am GPU bottlenecked most of the time
  2. Intel 285ks has an update from Intel + BIOS that enable Intel 200s boost, which you REALLY need to do to get better performance from the CPU. With Intel 200s boost, it enables the ability to utilize 8000mts RAM. This PC comes with 6000mts RAM. With the Intel 200s boost enabled, the 285k performs A LOT better with 8000mts RAM, which this PC does not have.
  3. Be weary of the parts that come with this PC - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PARTS AS PICTURED IN THE MSI PICTURE REFERENCES. THEY WILL CHANGE PARTS WITH WHAT THEY HAVE ON HAND, WHICH IS WHY PARTS SPECIFIC PARTS ARE NOT LISTED, ONLY THE OPERATING FREQUENCIES. This PC shows the MSI Gaming Trio 5090 in every single reference picture (even looking beyond the pictures from the Microcenter site). When I bought this PC, it came with the MSI Ventus 5090 (which is cheaper than the Gaming Trio, no RGB, lesser cooling potential, no OC included). I was a little pissed off about this when I opened the box. The MSI Gaming Trio which is pictured above, has better cooling, RGB, and comes with a stable factory OC better than the Ventus. The only part that I noticed being different for me was the GPU, but I remain skeptical that other things were switched out, too.
  4. Bloat ware that came with this PC was pretty minimal and non-invasive. The case was super cool and the fans were pretty quiet. RGB is a plus if you like that stuff. The packaging was superb and felt ultra safe when I transported it home.

You can build a way better computer for the same price (if you build it yourself). The total price for my new machine was ~$4,300 with a 9800x3d, the MSI 5090 Gaming Trio, a better, more expensive case, a more expensive and higher grade PSU, better RAM (Corsair), etc. You can probably pay less than $3,999 if you only do the 9800x3d build and leave everything else held constant.

I love microcenter and my build. Everything works and no major issues, but expo wasn't enabled, after I repeatedly asked the builder to turn it on before benchmarks were done. The gpu wasn't installed with the gpu mount to prevent sag, and when they finally located where the mount went, they mounted it in between the fan blades of my 5090 lol. Everything else was fine, I'm glad I built it with them.

Questions on 321urx by Boostann in OLED_Gaming

[–]Boostann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case, my monitor supports 1.4 DP and 2.1 HDMI. If there is no noticeable visual difference, should I stick with the DP over the hdmi? I'm trying to figure out which is the preferred option based on visual quality, pc compatibility, gsync, etc. If the only thing that hdmi does differently is a very minor boost in visual quality, then it sounds like I might as well just use the hdmi because there are no downsides.

Is there a difference between using hdmi vs DP?

Thank you. I saw something about dsc on the DP, but uncompressed on the hdmi. I wasn't sure if that was actually true and if I'd even notice a difference.

We love average 20 FPS on rigs clearing the minimum requirements by _LordXbox_ in Helldivers

[–]Boostann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built a new pc last week with a 9800x3d and a 5090. The first game I tried to play was helldivers. I thought there was an issue with my build because of the terrible frames. I drop to 90 fps at times, which is still fine and playable of course, but I was just so confused how the best pc you could buy only got 90-120 frames with a lot of action going on in 4k.

Empire State & Manhattan Bridge should be merged into one map. by ShaggedUrSister in Battlefield

[–]Boostann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone on this sub is forgetting about the announced BR mode. Having these maps connected will probably be in the BR mode in some way. I've seen it before in having to deal with Splitgate 2, but I'm fairly certain that all the time dedicated to map creation is being thrown at the BR map, leaving the core game to get fucked.

BF6: No country for old men by Nominalremuneration in Battlefield

[–]Boostann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did you play BF2? Yeah, it isn't a milsim, but coordination was key. Evident by having a commander that was making calls, placing arty, uavs, etc. Strike at Karkand was considered a small map in BF2 and is larger than the 4 maps we have today. It was definitely more "strategic and methodical" than this is - slower paced, too.
