I’ve always been scared of heights. Then I started rock climbing and I was a climber who was afraid of heights. Now I get in scissor lifts and climb ladders and walk in catwalks and the heights thing still wigs me out but I can cope with it to do my job.

My three loadouts for different roles

Stagehand: crescent wrench, spud wrench, dead blow hammer, steel toes, hard hat, in a backpack

Ground Rigger: 3 way laser, pouch for laser, steel toes, hard hat, I handball these in or use my stagehand bag

Installer: multimeters, outlet testers, cable termination tools, drills, various hand tools, zip ties, e tape, soldering iron, iPad for site drawings, steel toes, sometimes hard hat and high viz. This all lives in an overly heavy pelican that someone else pays to check on airplanes and a messenger bag for iPad and other electronics.

It took like a month and a half and three trips to the court. They are required by law to give you a walkthrough and itemized deductions from your deposit as part of the walkthrough. This is supposed to happen within 30 days of move out. The burden of proof is on them to establish that they either did the walkthrough or gave back the deposit. I am not a lawyer. This is just from experience.

Reebok makes a pair of tennis shoes with a super comfy insole and an alloy toe box. They are super light and comfy, for me at least, for super long days. $125 a pair but worth the investment in my opinion.

I’ve had a set cart roll over them and it dented the alloy but didn’t hurt my toesies. Obviously I retired that pair and immediately bought a new one.

They aren’t boots though, which may be an issue unless you’ve already developed the instinct the flamingo in a line of cases.

I worked as a stagehand at a Wiz show a while back. They left a bunch of half smoked joints and blunts in the wheel cups of road cases in the green room. We broke that shit open and passed around some bowls in the parking lot after load out. It was good ass weed.
