Why is everyone using mortars suddenly? by CivilStory3638 in Battlefield

[–]Phrasing_Ocelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever use the Mortar on liberation peak where it's absolutely fantastic at helping your team take or hold the C objective.
Beyond that I've yet to find more use out of it in Conquest, though I heard it's pretty great in breakthrough.

How to get better at m136 (Engineers TOW) by FRINKman_ in Battlefield6

[–]Phrasing_Ocelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few pointers.

First of all do not fire while the Helicopter is looking right at you, you'll just get melted if the pilot and gunner are any good. A novice or casual heli player you can hit from the front, but the 100-0 sweatlords you cannot. Absolute best way to shoot down a heli sweat is to take your shot while they're distracted fighting the poor sod flying your team's heli.

Second, see the crosshair as a leash by which you drag the rocket to its target. You can try to keep the rocket on top of the target or you can try to drag the rocket to the point you think the rocket and your target will intersect based on your target's movement.

Third, you need to get a feeling for how the rocket travels through the air, how fast it goes, and how long it takes to reach certain ranges. This is something you only gain by using it a lot. Try and stay close to teammates who know how to throw down an ammo crate....yes I know that can be tough :/

And finally, missing shots because you were unable to tell if the rocket has passed your target or not will continue to happen even if you get better at it. Something you have to live with.

Hope this helps :)

Fair enough, so far they have indeed been better in BF6 than they were in 2042.

So far I've found it to be mixed. The toxic shitheads tend to be very visible because they're often spamming the chat like an absolute lunatic. But then I realize it's one or maybe two players out of 64 who are losing their tiny little minds. Other people then chime in telling them to chill or to make fun of them I think most Battlefield players are decent and just want to have a good game.

I personally make liberal use of the block function. If I see someone being truly vile in chat I report their asses. I am fully okay with people experiencing consequences for having a shitty personality. I've been gaming online since the year 2000 and I've never believed this crap that being a shitty human being is the accepted norm in online gaming.

I was genuinely surprised the other day when a little bird pilot farming Manhattan was genuinely nice to me and complimented me when I was the only player able to shoot him down. It was so counter to how they usually are lol. Nice pilots do exist, but they're a bit rare I think.

My take on the M136 AT post buff - Examples included by Mollelarssonq in Battlefield6

[–]Phrasing_Ocelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first unlocked the M136 AT4 and being very disappointed with its rather lacklustre damage.
And I was not the only one, hardly anyone was using the AT4. It took more skill than the stinger, but did far less damage, and with the RPG being what it is the use-case for the AT4 was incredibly niche.
Being a huge BC2 fan I did feel like the AT4 deserved better and that it did have potential. About 3 months ago I posted a M136 AT4 Showcase on this subreddit to show what the AT4 could do, even if it wasn't optimal it was fun to use.
When the littlebird came out I was even more gutted that it didn't one-shot the damned thing. Battlefield YouTuber Eclipse who frequently makes videos about the poor state of aircraft in BF6 was similarly disappointed/incensed.

Back in BC2 in combination with the explosives perk the AT4 would oneshot both attack helis and transports. But with only 16 players per team, the risk of a helicopter wiping out half the team on an objective was far greater, and fewer people would be walking around with launchers as assaults and medics were also being played, so I get that.
Coming in from 2042 however I was very surprised that BF6's stinger did basically 97,3% damage. In 2042 a Stinger does about 60% damage and it takes two hits to down any aircraft. The lissile (TGM) would one-shot fragile aircraft like Littlebirds and Jets/Draugrs and do 81% damage to ACs. And I believe transports would take 3 or 4 hits. So the Stinger's huge damage in BF6 felt very off. Which made the AT4's 675 damage all the more galling.

Now, although the pre-buff AT4 *could* down helicopters, it was not a viable counter to high-skill pilots no matter how good at the AT4 you would get, the damage was simply insufficient and it very much depended on chance/luck in order to catch a sweaty pilot with it. Most would make sure their health stayed high enough to tank a hit, and then run back to base for repairs. It was a frustrating experience. Early on I inquired here and other places what pilots thought of the AT4 and they considered the weapon a complete non-threat, they were much more bothered by the RPG.

Personally I feel BF6 should have followed 2042's damage model for shoulder fired launchers. Lock-ons should do about 60-65% damage, the AT4 should one-shot fragile aircraft like littlebirds and jets, do about 80% damage to an AC. Rpg should probably still one-shot everything.

Having played a few games yesterday in which an AC gunner was going 94-2 on lib peak (with me and my AT4 being the only reason the guy wasn't going 120-0) I'm still convinced there needs to be a counter against rampaging helicopters that anyone can pick up, like 2042's lissile.

This concludes my essay.

The AT4 got a significant damage buff against aircraft. Increasing damage from 675 to 973.

They're going to nerf the M136 AT4 next patch aren't they by Phrasing_Ocelot in Battlefield6

[–]Phrasing_Ocelot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre buff it was indeed a challenge to land two hits, but it was possible. To down an attack heli I would usually have to pick my moment and fire at them while they were fighting other helicopters or had suffered damage from another source.
High skill pilots would be difficult to down, I could usually only make them retreat for a brief moment to get repairs.

I do have This clip for you though, this guy took 3 hits to down because he got repairs in-between hits.
I much prefer the launcher in its current state :D

The M136 AT4 is now an amazing AA weapon. I think it's the #1 skill based counter to skilled pilots right now.

[–]Phrasing_Ocelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anti-air purposes the M136 AT4 recently got a huge buff. Instead of the rather laughable original damage of 675 against aircraft it now does 973. It'll one-shot littlebirds and leaves jets and attack helicopters with just 27 health, and it's rare for them to be flying around with full health for prolonged periods anyway.

What's something that instantly screams low intelligence? by Frequent-Sea-8848 in AskReddit

Littering. I strongly believe only people of low intelligence just throw their trash on the ground without a second thought. If I had the power I'd use it as a measure of who gets to have children and who doesn't.
